The Sunday Post #69

The Sunday Post is hosted by The Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to recap the past week, talk about next week, and share news. It’s Monday, What Are You Reading? is hosted by Book Date. I get to tell you what I’ve read recently.

On The Blog Last Week

On The Blog This Week

  • On Monday I review All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven.
  • On Wednesday I review A Gathering of Shadows by V.E. Schwab.
  • On Thursday I do The Autumn Reading Tag.
  • On Saturday I haul some sci-fi books.

In My Reading Life

It felt like I was reading really slowly last week. I was sick and in a terrible mood and fell asleep whenever I tried to read. I did finish two books, though. They were Life As We Knew It by Susan Beth Pfeffer and Fake ID by Lamar Giles. Up next is Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk.

In My Blogging Life

Elliptical Man reminded me that the Blogging from A to Z challenge is a thing I want to do. I’ve watched bloggers attempt the challenge for years, but it takes a lot of planning, and I’ve never gotten myself together in time to do it. The challenge isn’t until April, but I’m brainstorming ideas now. I think my theme is going to be “bookish memories.” It’ll probably be the most self-indulgent thing I’ve ever done on the blog. But, the posts will be short, so you won’t have to put up with too much me-me-me. Is anybody else going to do this challenge?

In The Rest Of My Life

Five things that made me happy last week:

  1. I went to the bookstore.
  2. My final giant grad school assignment is done and approved.
  3. Binge-watching Game of Thrones.
  4. I’ve done a lot of blogging and scheduling posts lately. Future-me will be thrilled about this.
  5. Authors finding my reviews of their books and tweeting links. I’m glad they like my reviews, but this also massively freaks me out.

I hope you had a great week! See you around the blogosphere!

  1. Oh I know what you mean about being both happy and terrified when authors find your reviews... I tend to only @ an author with 5 star reviews, so if they find the others, it's because they were looking for them.
    Feel better!!
Congrats on having your last project approved! That's awesome! I'm still working on mine, but I'm making progress these days :)
Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading.

  2. That challenge sounds cool. I don't think I could do it though.Too much work lol. Yay for the bookstore and your assignment being done and approved. I agree about authors and tweeting out links. It is cool but give me anxiety! Have a great week!

  3. Happy Sunday! I still have All the Bright Places on my TBR and I haven't gotten around to read it yet, I hope it's good! I hope you are feeling much better :) Reading while having a headache/cold is the worst feeling ever, I won't even be able t make it past two books. I started with the first season of GOT but my friends around me spoiled the remaining 5 seasons and although I never watched pass season 2, I already knew what happened before I watched it, so it kinda sucked *ugh* I've never heard of that challenge but I'm checking it out!

  4. I made it to M last year in the A-Z challenge. I do believe that's where I found Elliptical Man though, so it wasn't a complete bust! I think part of my issue was I'd just done a daily Slice Of Life challenge the month before, and I just ran out of time/energy/creativity.

I'm chomping at the bit to hear your two cents about both All the Bright Places and AGOS. This is your first Schwab, right? And I really did enjoy Life As We Knew It, although I never made it through the sequels. I remember I kept looking up from the book and worrying about how much canned food we had on hand, and also feeling very cold the whole time I was reading it.

  5. The A-Z challenge does sound like fun, but would need to take a lot of advance planning. I struggle to get 3 days of posts ready to go, let alone a month's worth. Good luck with it when you attempt it. I like the theme you're thinking of.

  6. The Autumn Reading tag sounds fun, and it's always nice to see what sci fi books people are hauling. And Life As We Knew It is one I was interested in, so curious to see what you thought. I never picked it up but it is on my list.

Bookstores and binge watching Game of Thrones sound fun!

  9. I don't think that I am enough of a planner to complete the A to Z challenge. I would probably get distracted after C or something. Congrats on getting your final assignment approved! Yay for the bookstore!

  10. I did the A-Z challenge this year on another blog I have, you are right it takes planning and prepping ahead because the days quickly go along.

  11. I am not at all organized enough to get blog posts written more than a day or so in advance, let alone plan an entire month's worth of themed posts....I commend you your organizational skills, and your bravery! ;)

  12. I often tag authors in my reviews and then get a little stressed when I think they might go and read it IF I haven't been glowing or included some criticism etc...

Well done on your final assignment and I'm intrigued why you don't read ARCs so will check that post out.

  13. I like how you list the things that made you happy this week. It's always helpful to focus on some good....and it lifts our spirits.

I'm curious about Life As We Knew It. Enjoy your new week, and here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES

  15. Yay for forward planning on the blog front - I've been quite prepared this month what with doing blogtober. It feels good knowing there is content to go up. Does your trip to the bookstore mean a haul perhaps? Hmm? I've heard good things about Fight Club. Happy reading!
