Review: Salt To The Sea by Ruta Sepetys
Salt To The Sea By Ruta Sepetys
Pages: 393
Genre: Young adult historical fiction
Publication Date: February 2016
World War II is drawing to a close in East Prussia and thousands of refugees are on a desperate trek toward freedom, many with something to hide. Among them are Joana, Emilia, and Florian, whose paths converge en route to the ship that promises salvation, the Wilhelm Gustloff. Forced by circumstance to unite, the three find their strength, courage, and trust in each other tested with each step closer to safety.
Just when it seems freedom is within their grasp, tragedy strikes. Not country, nor culture, nor status matter as all ten thousand people—adults and children alike—aboard must fight for the same thing: survival.

Review: The Gentleman’s Guide To Vice And Virtue By Mackenzi Lee || This Is How You Write A Road Trip Story
The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi Lee (Montague Siblings #1)
Pages: 513
Genre: Young adult historical fiction / fantasy
Publication Date: June 2017
Publication Date: June 2017
Henry “Monty” Montague was born and bred to be a gentleman, but he was never one to be tamed. The finest boarding schools in England and the constant disapproval of his father haven’t been able to curb any of his roguish passions—not for gambling halls, late nights spent with a bottle of spirits, or waking up in the arms of women or men.
But as Monty embarks on his Grand Tour of Europe, his quest for a life filled with pleasure and vice is in danger of coming to an end. Not only does his father expect him to take over the family’s estate upon his return, but Monty is also nursing an impossible crush on his best friend and traveling companion, Percy.
Still it isn’t in Monty’s nature to give up. Even with his younger sister, Felicity, in tow, he vows to make this yearlong escapade one last hedonistic hurrah and flirt with Percy from Paris to Rome. But when one of Monty’s reckless decisions turns their trip abroad into a harrowing manhunt that spans across Europe, it calls into question everything he knows, including his relationship with the boy he adores.

The Book Blogging Firsts Tag
This tag was created by Kristen@ Metaphors And Moonlight. Since Read All The Things! turned 5 in mid-August, I thought this tag was a perfect way to celebrate. It’s time to cast my mind back to 2013 and reminisce about how this bloggy mess got rolling. It’s been a long, peculiar journey. I’ve honestly enjoyed (nearly) every minute of it.
If you haven’t heard, I’m hosting a giveaway to celebrate my blogiversary. Click here and enter to win a book of your choice.

Top Ten Tuesday: Slump-Busting Classics
Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s topic is books to get you out of a reading slump. When you think of classics, you usually think about the books that make you hate reading. Classics are the nasty things that put people in reading slumps. But, are there any classics that can pull you out of a slump? I think so. Here are ten classics (including modern classics) that have enough adventure and danger to drag you out of a slump.

Book Haul: From A Nice Lady
Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Tynga’s Reviews. I get to show off all the books I’ve gotten recently. I met a nice lady who was trying to get rid of her kids’ old homeschool curriculums. Since I like kids’ books, she gave me 5 children’s classics. Thanks, nice lady!

I’d Love To Read About: Useless Mythical Creatures
Have you ever learned a strange fact or seen an unusual thing and thought, I wish there were more books about that? It happens to me all the time. Authors, if you’re listening, here are five unusual critters that I wish somebody would write about. (Or take inspiration from. I’m not picky!)
We’ve all heard about the
awesome mythical creatures. You know, the unicorns, dragons, bigfoots, and
vampires. But what about the useless mythical creatures? The ones that look
stupid and don’t have any badass talents. Those critters need love, too. Here
are five mythical creatures that I think deserve more page time in books.

Book Haul: Recommendations (Part 4)
Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Tynga’s Reviews. I get to show off all the books I’ve gotten recently. Way back at the beginning of the year, I asked for book recommendations. Here are some of the books that you recommended I read. Sorry, I didn’t write down who recommended which book because I’m a lazy, terrible person, but thank you for the recommendations!

Discussion: The Blogosphere’s Favorite Books Of 2018 (So Far)
The 2018 Discussion Challenge is hosted by Feed Your Fiction Addiction & It Starts At Midnight |
The Accidental Making Of A List
My favorite time to be a blogger is during July and December. Those are the months when most of the “best books” lists come out. I’ve spent an embarrassing number of hours searching the Internet for posts and videos about people’s favorite books. I’m hopelessly curious about what strangers are reading. This year, I decided to do something different. Instead of just watching/reading the lists, I took notes (like the nerd I am). If I saw the same book title multiple times, I wrote it down. That’s how I accidentally ended up making a list of the blogosphere’s favorite books of 2018 (so far).

The Sunday Post #158
This dog illustration was created in the 1800s, but it looks exactly like a dog I used to have. There's only one logical explanation: My dog was a time-traveling supermodel. |
