The Sunday Post #67

The Sunday Post is hosted by The Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to recap the past week, talk about next week, and share news. It’s Monday, What Are You Reading? is hosted by Book Date. I get to tell you what I’ve read recently.

On The Blog Last Week

On The Blog This Week

  • On Monday I review Challenger Deep by Neal Shusterman.
  • On Tuesday I have a definitive ranking of Harry Potter villains.
  • On Wednesday I review The Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux.
  • On Thursday I wrap up September.

In My Reading Life

Last week, I finished The Exorcist by William Peter Blatty and read All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven. Right now, I’m reading A Gathering of Shadows by V.E. Schwab.

In The Rest Of My Life

Five things that made me happy last week:

  1. My thesis has gone to my thesis readers. It’s now out of my hands. I apologize to my readers because the thing is 285 pages. That’s a lot of reading.
  2. There was a gas leak in my house, and I didn’t die, so that’s good.
  3. I went hiking again.
  4. #NationalBlackDogDay. If you’re thinking about getting a dog, please consider adopting a black dog from a shelter. Black dogs are adopted less often than other-colored dogs.
  5. Mexican beer commercials.

I hope you had a great week! See you around the blogosphere!

  1. Glad you are OK with the gas leak. I had no idea that black dogs are adopted less. Have a great week!

  2. I feel so bad for laughing at your gas leak, haha! But you made it sounds so funny :p I had a similar experience in a petrol station, an i***t was smoking right then and there! I was expecting the entire station to just explode, but thank god all lives were spared. Ugh! Thesis are the worst! I even hated proofreading my thesis, congratulations though on completing it :D Have a great October!

  4. I really hope you enjoy A Gathering of Shadows! I'm hoping to start that series soon (I've had A Darker Shade of Magic for ages!), and I hope I'll like it more than This Savage Song. I've heard it's really good! :)

  5. Well, good luck on your thesis. You're a smart lady though, so I'm not worried.

There's definitely a hierarchy in dog adoption. Like certain breeds are more popular than others, and the younger ones get adopted more than the older ones.

  6. Schwab! Schwab! Schwab! Schwab!

Sorry, I'm a little rabid about her at the moment.

I would have thought black dogs were popular! Aren't black labs like the #1 dog breed right now? Weird.

I'm looking forward to the HP Villain post.

  7. I can't wait to see what you think of The Exorcist! I've seen the movie but I've always wanted to read the book and never have! Is that true about the black dogs? That's so weird! Have a great week :D

    Here's my Weekly Recap!

  10. Yay for surviving the gas leak! How scary! Also I didn't know that about black dogs - how interesting.

I need to read something Schwab. Immediately. I can't believe I haven't yet. *furiously ashamed*

  11. Black dogs are adopted less? Who knew? I still have All the Bright Places on my TBR mountain. I hope to get to it soon. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

  12. Some of your five made me LOL. I'm so glad you and your canines are okay after that gas leak; damn, how'd that happen? I never knew that about black dogs and being adopted. Seeing The Exorcist cover made me laugh. My mum was made to watch that while I was in utero and til this day I can't watch a horror film.
