The Sunday Post #117

The Sunday Post is hosted by The Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to recap the past week, talk about next week, and share news. It’s Monday, What Are You Reading? is hosted by Book Date. I get to tell you what I’ve read recently.

On The Blog Last Week

On The Blog This Week

  • On Monday I review Fantastic Mr. Fox by Roald Dahl.
  • On Wednesday I review My Cousin Rachel by Daphne du Maurier.
  • On Thursday I rant about assumptions.

In My Reading Life

Last week, I finished The Stranger Beside Me: Ted Bundy The Shocking Inside Story by Ann Rule. Then I read State of Wonder by Ann Patchett. Right now, I’m reading Touching the Void: The True Story of One Man’s Miraculous Survival by Joe Simpson.

In The Rest Of My Life

Five things that made me happy last week:

  1. The dogs and I briefly had the entire dog park to ourselves. We felt like queens.
  2. Kit-Kats.
  3. All the fall TV is back! There’s so much TV to watch.
  4. Have you seen the #ShatteringStigmas posts that a bunch of bloggers have been writing? They’re very educational. Everyone should read them and learn some stuff.
  5. Running on the treadmill. It’s so much easier on my joints than running outside. Also, I get to watch TV while running. (One GoT episode = 5 miles of running.)

Take care of yourselves and be kind to each other! See you around the blogosphere!

  1. I'm excited for your review of The Fantastic Mr. Fox! I've been wanting to watch the Wes Anderson movie by the same name (any relation?) so I'm really curious. Where is all the fall TV?? I need to find it!

  3. I think I read Fantastic Mr. Fox as a kid- either that or the teacher read it to us. Sounds so familiar and I know I've read/ heard Dahl even though I don't remember owning the books. Oh well anyway... yay for fall TV! Although I'm sorta between shows ATM.

  4. I don't watch much TV but I agree there is so much new stuff to watch that looks exciting. I've liked Ann Patchett's books but all her endings leave me grinding my teeth in frustration.

  5. I often run in gyms mainly because I can listen to books. Outside, I want to listen to nature. Sounds as if you had a productive weekk.

  6. I still think running is dangerous but on the treadmill you will be less likely to have to deal with squirrel and deer. Kit Kats should make everyone happy :) Have a great week!

  7. Ooh. A rant about assumptions. That sounds interesting. I'll check it out next week. Come see what I'm reading

  8. Really enjoyed your thoughts on Fantastic Mr Fox, especially the environmental comments as I definitely thought about that when rereading as an adult. Looking forward to your du Maurier review as I've still only read Rebecca.

    A lovely week to you!

  10. I like Ann Rule's books, but haven't read one in a while.

I have a copy of the "My Grandmother..." book (title too long! lol), and need to bring it forward.

I am so bad at exercising, and since I have an exercise bike in my bedroom and could watch TV while using it, I have no excuse! Bad me!

I notice the effects of not enough exercise when I have to walk a distance in a parking lot.

I remember loving My Cousin Rachel. Enjoy!

  12. I have just started running - not sure I would find it as "easy" on a treadmill. I like the scenery

  13. I can't wait to read your discussion post this week and your thoughts on My Cousin Rachel. One of these days I will read something by du Maurier.

I have enjoyed both Backman novel's I've read, including My Grandmother Asked Me To Tell You She’s Sorry. I am glad you liked that one too.

I could use a treadmill . . . I used to have a stationary bike, but we had to sell it when we moved.

I hope you have a great week!

  14. I'm up to walking 3 miles a day outside. I don't think I can go back to running though - it is killer on my achilles tendon. Happy reading! Girl Who Reads

  15. I watch TV while doing the elliptical and it's the BEST motivation. I just finished up Season 7 of The Walking Dead today. Now I need to see if I can manage to get HBOGo working downstairs so that I can binge GoT and catch up with the rest of the world!

  16. I seem to have a right pile of non fiction in my home, what with mountain disaster books, political biographies and true crime. Really need to get moving on that lot! I have two of Ann Rule to look at but they are such big books!
