The Sunday Post #63

The Sunday Post is hosted by The Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to recap the past week, talk about next week, and share news. It’s Monday, What Are You Reading? is hosted by Book Date. I get to tell you what I’ve read recently.

On The Blog Last Week

On The Blog This Week

  • On Monday I have too many thoughts about Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
  • On Tuesday I quote my favorite fictional character ever (Homer Simpson).
  • On Wednesday I review Geek Love by Katherine Dunn.
  • On Saturday books happen.

In My Reading Life

Last week, I finished Geek Love by Katherine Dunn. Then I read Brides of Eden by Linda Crew and Furiously Happy by Jenny Lawson. Now I'm reading I Am Nujood, Age 10 and Divorced by Nujood Ali.

In The Rest Of My Life

Five things that made me happy last week:

  1. Slightly more free time than usual.
  2. Furiously Happy lived up to the hype.
  3. Actually, all the books I read last week were pretty good.
  4. I traded some old used books for new used books.
  5. #TacoTrucksOnEveryCorner started as a political thing, but if you love tacos as much as I do, you need to check out the gifs on Twitter.

I hope you had a great week! See you around the blogosphere!

  3. Ha love that Labor Day quote. And nice post on Night Circus- it sounds like it's a great read for the writing but plot wise not to expect too much. That's good to know, since I do kinda want to read it.

I'll take taco trucks on every corner! Yum.

  4. That raccoon picture cracks me up every time, and I loved learning in the book that it is actually something she owns, not just an illustration for the cover. TACO TRUCKS ON EVERY CORNER! Way better than a chicken in every pot.

    1. I agree that the cover is freaky. Taxidermy animals are unsettling, especially when they’re smiling.

  14. I love trading books for new books! That's definitely how I rationalize my big piles of books from the library book sale. :)

I will keep an eye out for your thoughts on Nujood. I imagine it's a powerful read.

    1. Yes! Trading books is awesome. I don’t know what I’d do without used bookstores.
