The Sunday Post is hosted by The Caffeinated Book
Reviewer. It’s a chance to recap the past week, talk about next week, and
share news. It’s Monday, What Are You Reading? is hosted by Book Date. I get to
tell you what I’ve read recently.
On The Blog Last Week
- On Monday I reviewed A Long Way from Chicago by Richard Peck.
- On Tuesday I showed you some forced school reads that weren’t (too) painful.
- On Wednesday I reviewed The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern.
- On Thursday I wrapped up August.
On The Blog This Week
- On Monday I have too many thoughts about Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
- On Tuesday I quote my favorite fictional character ever (Homer Simpson).
- On Wednesday I review Geek Love by Katherine Dunn.
- On Saturday books happen.
In My Reading Life
Last week, I finished Geek Love by Katherine Dunn. Then I read Brides of Eden by Linda Crew and Furiously Happy by Jenny Lawson. Now I'm reading I Am Nujood, Age 10 and Divorced by Nujood Ali.
In The Rest Of My Life
Five things that made me happy last week:
- Slightly more free time than usual.
- Furiously Happy lived up to the hype.
- Actually, all the books I read last week were pretty good.
- I traded some old used books for new used books.
- #TacoTrucksOnEveryCorner started as a political thing, but if you love tacos as much as I do, you need to check out the gifs on Twitter.
I hope you had a great week! See you around the
blogosphere!
Yay glad you liked Furiously Happy. I love that book and cover!! I am all for anything that embraces tacos :P Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI loved Furiously Happy. It made me furiously happy. :)

What an interesting haul! I would love to check them out :D Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteHa love that Labor Day quote. And nice post on Night Circus- it sounds like it's a great read for the writing but plot wise not to expect too much. That's good to know, since I do kinda want to read it.
ReplyDeleteI'll take taco trucks on every corner! Yum.
If you do read The Night Circus, I hope you enjoy it.

That raccoon picture cracks me up every time, and I loved learning in the book that it is actually something she owns, not just an illustration for the cover. TACO TRUCKS ON EVERY CORNER! Way better than a chicken in every pot.
ReplyDeleteLol, I’d usually rather have a taco than a chicken . . .

OH, Geek Love looks so good!! I've been wanting to read that one for a while now. I hope you loved it.
ReplyDeleteI didn’t love Geek Love, but it’s a very strange book. I liked the weirdness of it.

ReplyDeleteI haven't seen a lot of those memes, but they're hilarious. lol Taco Tuesday indeed. I welcome it.
I’ll eat a taco on Election Day because I’ll use any excuse to eat Mexican food. :)

Great Labor Day quote....and I am not sure about Furiously Happy...the cover freaks me out a little. lol.
ReplyDeleteBut I've heard good things.
Enjoy your books...and here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES
I agree that the cover is freaky. Taxidermy animals are unsettling, especially when they’re smiling.

Oooo... Some fun content coming up on the blog. Yay for more free time, and double yay for new books! I hope you enjoy all your upcoming reads :-)
ReplyDeleteI love trading books for new books! That's definitely how I rationalize my big piles of books from the library book sale. :)
ReplyDeleteI will keep an eye out for your thoughts on Nujood. I imagine it's a powerful read.
Yes! Trading books is awesome. I don’t know what I’d do without used bookstores.
