In My Reading Life
Last
week, I finished The Shell Collector by Anthony Doerr and The Butcher’s Hook
by Janet Ellis. Then I read Crispin:
The Cross of Lead by Avi. Right now, I’m reading Missing May by Cynthia Rylant and What is Not Yours is Not Yours: Stories by Helen Oyeyemi.
In The Rest Of My Life
Five
things that made me laugh last week. (Olympic headlines edition):
1. Teenagers. *Sigh.*
2. Shut up, Brenda, you know nothing about snowboarding!
3. Teenagers. *Sigh.*
4. Ignore the trolls and be your fabulous self.
5. If you spend all your free time waving at cameras, you might as well make it interesting.
Take
care of yourselves and be kind to each other! See you around the blogosphere!
Fun Olympics memes, I heart Adam Rippon. Happy reading, I like the cover on The Shell Collector.
ReplyDeleteLove your 5 things this week! Adam Rippon is fabulous. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI just loved your Olympics memes! All those covers are so pretty, especially The Shell Collector!
ReplyDeleteSitting here laughing out loud at your Olympic-themed 5 things, haha!
ReplyDeleteCurious to see what you think of What is Not Yours is Not Yours: Stories by Helen Oyeyemi. That has been on my TBR for a while now and I keep skipping over it.
Hope you have a great week!
Ha! I haven't watched as much of the Olympics as I was hoping this year. :(
ReplyDeleteSomehow I missed all those Olympic moments lol, sadly. #1 is awesome. :) And some of these announcers I wish would just shut up!
ReplyDeleteI haven't watched the Olympics...at all. I don't get the fascination, but then, I'm an introverted nerd. LOL.
ReplyDeleteI liked your five things, though.
Enjoy your week, and thanks for visiting my blog.
Ha! fun olympic highlight picks.
ReplyDeleteLove the Olympic memes! Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteOoo, I hope you post a review of Butcher's Hook! I'm very curious about it, but the middling reviews have left me hesitant about picking up a copy for myself. Have a great week :)
ReplyDeleteThose Memes are so funny, I love the idea of sending just someone out to give it a try so we can stop saying we can totally do that. So funny!
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a great week, AJ! Happy Reading!
A couple of those books caught my eye; And I'm really enjoying all things Olympics this time around.
ReplyDeleteMy Sunday Post
I cannot get over people wishing our athletes fail at the games. SMH. I hate how everything has become so political. In the immortal words of a 17 year old I taught back in the day, "Can't we just be human to each other?"
ReplyDeleteAdam Rippon! He is so cool and such a sassy sweetheart. Same with the teenagers! I adore them. Chloe Kim is my hero.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a wonderful weekend, AJ! =)
Alyssa @ The Eater of Books!
I haven't watched the Olympics, but I loved your 5 things!
ReplyDeleteI missed those particular Olympian moments - but I do love them:). And good for young Adam! Have another Olympic week, AJ:) https://sjhigbee.wordpress.com/2018/02/18/sunday-post-18th-february-2018/
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to read your thoughts on The Last One. That was one of my favorite books from last year. I haven't been watching the Olympics at all. I have been so busy with everything else. I can't wait to quit my job. It takes up too much of my time, lol!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
I enjoyed your review this week of This Monstrous Thing. That headline/article about Red Gerard cracked me up. And Devin Logan's tiny hands. Ha! Teenagers, indeed. :)
ReplyDeleteTanya @ Girl Plus Books
I love those Olympic headlines! The kid who won the snowboarding after losing his coat and swearing on TV was my favorite :) I was trying to explain it to my sister at dinner tonight, but it didn't quite have save affect as reading the headline :)
ReplyDeleteI love your 5 things this week! XD I especially love the tiny hands! I'm looking forward to seeing what you thought of The Last One! I never got around to reviewing it... Whoops!
ReplyDeleteLOL on the Olympic memes. I just love the Winter Olympics and there have been some awesome athletes.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great week!
I haven't been following the Winter Olympics but I'm quite entertained by the headlines up there. Have a great week ahead!
ReplyDeleteThose memes are hilarious and the headlines are so silly, who comes up with them I wonder and do they read them before they post. The Butcher’s Hook sounds interesting. Happy Reading!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh Glamazon Bitch is the best phrase ever!!! Love it!!! And YES, they should have regular people try the event out first, I was already laughing so hard thinking about how hilarious that would be to watch! These are the best social media shares ever, thanks for making my night!!
ReplyDeleteJen @ Star-Crossed Book Blog
Loved the Olympic bits!
ReplyDeleteI'll be glad when the olympics are over! It's been stressful trying to get everything recorded during the night and trying to get it watched in amongst everything else that needs doing! THEN I can relax and watch my favourite events at leisure through the spring!
ReplyDeleteI love the headlines and I've missed most of these so I definitely got a laugh! The tiny hands thing is especially bizarre but fun. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh those Olympics tweets and news reports are too much!! Sometimes I just shake my head-some of these athletes are just too quirky for words!! I love it! have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThe Olympics have had a number of entertaining moments. Adam Rippon is quite a character. Come see my week here. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteHaHAHaHa I love all the Olympic headlines. I hadn't heard of any of these. I can't believe someone was tweeting while they competed. I hope they were messing with their phone on the sidelines or something.
ReplyDeleteThe Olympics headlines are funny! I hope you enjoy your books and have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThe Shell Collector looks good. My post this week.
ReplyDeleteI loved the Olympic headlines. You are funny! Thanks for stopping over at my #SundayRoundup! I hope you enjoy the new books!
ReplyDeleteMary
Those Olympic headlines made me chuckle too.
ReplyDeleteI have teenagers and I totally get those headlines!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a really fantastic week! Those news items were so hilarious! Thanks for stopping by! Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteThese 5 Olympics things made me laugh too, so thanks for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteI heart the Winter Olympics ... the alpine relay was so, so good! I was on the edge of my seat for Italy! ♥️
ReplyDeleteI'm sure enjoying the Olympics! I hope you enjoy your new books :)
ReplyDeleteI love your "five things that made me laugh" -- what a good way to end the week on an up note! I need to read Crispin and Missing May for the Newbery Medal Challenge. One of these days! :-) Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI think I have the Crispin books in my shelves waiting to be read - it is part of a series, right? :) Have a great reading week!
ReplyDeleteI haven't been following the Olympics, but those things you shared are pretty funny. Missing May must be a good one if you're re-reading it. I rarely re-read books, I really should make more time for that. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI wish I had been following the Olympic games but I really don;t like watching sports on TV UNLESS it is the world cup :) Then is complete mayhem! :) Glad you are enjoying the games!
ReplyDeleteI had a good laugh at the over sleeper. Just gotta shake your head and smile. lol
