The Sunday Post is hosted by The
Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to recap the past week, talk about
next week, and share news. It’s Monday, What Are You Reading? is hosted by Book Date. I get to tell you
what I’ve read recently.
On The Blog Last Week
- On Monday I reviewed The Beginning of the World in the Middle of the Night by Jen Campbell.
- On Tuesday we talked about my long-term reading failures.
- On Wednesday I reviewed The Paper Menagerie and Other Stories by Ken Liu.
- On Thursday I listed some oddities I’ve discovered inside used books.
- On Saturday there was a book haul.
On The Blog This Week
- On Monday I review Ararat by Christopher Golden.
- On Wednesday I review This Monstrous Thing by Mackenzi Lee.
- On Saturday there’s a book haul.
In My Reading Life
Last
week, I finished Dinosaurs on Other Planets: Stories by Danielle
McLaughlin and Still Points North by Leigh Newman. Then I read Criss Cross by Lynne Rae Perkins. Right
now, I’m reading The Shell Collector
by Anthony Doerr and The Butcher’s Hook
by Janet Ellis.
In The Rest Of My Life
Five
things that made me happy last week:
- It’s Girl Scout cookie time!
- I started applying for new jobs. Cross your fingers for me.
- Did you see Twitter’s reaction to Lady Doritos? It’s hilarious. I’ve never had an issue with knocking back a whole bag of regular Doritos, but no one would ever describe me as “ladylike.”
- I’m 1 book ahead on my Goodreads challenge. Shove it, Goodreads. You can no longer tell me I’m failing at life.
- It didn’t snow on me while I was running. It is snowing right now, though.
Take
care of yourselves and be kind to each other! See you around the blogosphere!
YAY for no snow while you were running, but it looks pretty outside now that you're back home :)
ReplyDelete*crossing fingers* I hope your dream job will show up and that you'll be happy with the whole package.
Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading.
Lexxie @ (un)Conventional Bookviews
It is freezing here, and the roads are slippery in the morning, but no snow. Thankfully. Good luck with your job, hopefully you can get the one you want.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week.
Best wishes
Vi @Inkvotary
Oh Girl Scout cookies. We ordered three boxes and I can't wait. Good luck on the job hunt. I am thankful we only have rain right now and not snow. Have a great week!!
ReplyDeleteI'm not on Twitter too often, but I did happen to stumble upon the whole 'lady dorito' thing and I could not believe it wasn't a hoax. The response on twitter was pretty hilarious ;)
ReplyDeleteMy Sunday Post
Hopefully we will come across someone selling Girl Scout cookies soon, because I would definitely enjoy some! Good luck on all the job applications!
ReplyDeleteI'll keep my fingers crossed for all of your job applications. Hopefully, one of them will prove fruitful. Your goodreads comment made me laugh, I always feel like that when you get ahead because who is goodreads to constantly remind you your behind? It's just rude.
ReplyDeleteI had no idea about lady Doritos (SMH), but it seems so timely to me as I am finishing Moxie this morning. Good luck and lots of crossed fingers and toes for you as you search for a job! I love seeing people excited about GS cookies, because I was deeply entrenched in that organization for about 7 years. The girls get a nice amount of the money you spend back, and I know my troop did a whole bunch of wonderful things with our cookie money.
ReplyDeleteThe Lady Doritos thing was freaking ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteI did love Ararat by Christopher Golden.
I didn't get any girl scout cookies this year, I am regretting it! lol
ReplyDeleteLady Doritos was funny. That was a stupid idea, almost something that would have worked in the 30s.
Good luck with the job search! *Fingers Crossed*
Have a great week, AJ! Happy Reading! :)
Hmmmm Girl Scout cookies. Yes, and I have zero problems munching away at a bag of Doritos, the red ones are my favs. I don't need 'lady Doritos' lolol. Good luck with job hunting and happy reading :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your job seeking.
ReplyDeleteOMG Girl Scout cookies! I have not seen anyone around by me. You can order them offline tho. They charge you shipping tho. Good Luck on finding a new job. I just did that myself. Just part time right now. I plan on going back to school in April. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteMary
Dinosaurs on Other Planets looks interesting to me! And I know all is right with the world if there are Thin Mints in the house.
ReplyDeleteGood luck on your job search! I'm sure you'll find something you love. Happy reading! Natflix&Books
ReplyDeleteCookies always make everything better. ;) Good luck on your job hunt. *fingers crossed*
ReplyDeleteHappy readings! ;)
Tânia @MyLovelySecret
Good luck with the job hunting! :)
ReplyDeleteAnd I haven’t heard about this Lady Doritos thing, but I’m now curious... I’m going to have to look it up! :)
Have a great week :)
Omg, my goodreads challenge widget never seems to work on my blog. I hope you are enjoying your run even in the snow. I went for my walk in the snow today. It was beautiful. I love doritos and I am definitely not ladylike :)
ReplyDeleteI'll take the Lady Cheetos ;-) Good luck with the job hunt! And, happy reading.
ReplyDeleteI have quite a few Girl Scout cookies on order. I can't wait to start eating them :) I always set my goodreads challenge number low just so that I don't spend the year feeling like I am behind. I just learned that I eat like a man. Not even sure what that means. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteBest of luck with the job application process! I am crossing my fingers for you. OMG, Girl Scout Cookies, don't bring them near me!!! I like them way too much. :D :D :D :D Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteHave a fantastic week. =)
Alyssa @ The Eater of Books!
Good luck with the job hunt! I hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteGirl Scout cookie time is the best time :) I bought one box of my favorites (Tagalongs) last week and it only took one bite for me to throw restraint out the window. I'll be easy prey when they start selling in front of my grocery store later this month... Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteGood luck on your job hunt! I'm also trying to find a job and I hope that I get one!
ReplyDeleteHere’s my Sunday Post!

I had to send my cookie girl away because we had the flu and have not seen her since. AHHHH! The Dorito thing is hilarious. I do hope the job hunt goes well. I need to check out the books you've read. Hope the week ahead is delightful!
ReplyDeleteSending good thoughts on the job search. I am trying to avoid the cookies.
ReplyDeleteI'm about to start the job prowl. That "Lady's Doritos" is absurd. I love everyone's Twitter responses. I'm able to withstand the Girl Scouts, thankfully. One less carb I have to worry about cutting from my diet. I'm currently on track with my Goodreads goal, but who knows. That could change mid-week. :/
ReplyDeleteI hope you get the job you want! Job hunting can be nerve-racking. Thanks for reminding me about GR. I keep forgetting to post my reviews. Darn!
ReplyDeleteI think I love your five things that made you happy list, especially the reference to Goodreads. I can get very stressed out looking at my yearly goal. Have a chill week.
ReplyDeleteYeah for Girl Scout cookies and beating Goodreads!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun post! I'm off to check out the things you find inside used books...and enjoy those Girl Scout cookies.
ReplyDeleteIf I'm having Doritos I'll be eating the whole big bag not some dumb purse sized bag! First I don't OWN a purse and second, nobody is scaling down my snacks!
ReplyDeleteI DON'T KNOW WHERE TO FIND THE GIRL SCOUTS, I want my cookies!
ReplyDeleteI need to track down some Girl Scouts. I bought two boxes but I want more! Come see my week here. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteI hate how naggy Goodreads can get if you fall behind on your own self imposed reading goals. Come see what I'm reading this week.
ReplyDeleteI'm always really far behind or really far ahead with my Goodreads challenge - no happy medium! I've been meaning to re-read Criss Cross. I remember really enjoying it the first time around.
ReplyDeleteI usually set my goal a little lower than I know I'll get on GR so that I am not stressed by them telling me I am behind. All the best for the new job search.
ReplyDeleteLOL the Doritos thing and their backpeddling were too much. We had a good laugh over it on FB, too. I crunch and lick my fingers and eat those last little crumbs. Sure do ;)
ReplyDeleteGirl scout cookies. Oh dear - I've heard a few yays for cookies this week. :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your job hunt!
Well done with your GR reading challenge! I'm currently one behind, but I hope to pick that up soon!
Have a great week!
I'm curious how you like The Shell Collector. I have it and another one of his on my shelf, but haven't made time to read either. I loved All the Light We Cannot See and plan to re-read it sometime soon. What a great writer!
ReplyDeleteHooray for Girl Scout cookies!! Our house was always the 'cookie station' when my daughters were scouts... talk about temptation! Good luck with the job search.
ReplyDeleteGood luck on the job hunt! I honestly don't understand the uproar over Doritos. It seems like people get excited about a lot of stuff now. LoL A chip is a chip, and as long as they don't change the taste of it, I don't care if they call it "lady Doritos". I will still eat an entire bag in one sitting with zero regrets. LoL
ReplyDeleteDinosaurs on Other Planets looks interesting. Good luck with the job hunt! Hmmm - haven't seen any girl scout cookies our way. Happy Reading!
ReplyDeleteFingers crossed about the job! And yeah that you enjoyed This Monstrous Thing! Seems like a pretty week, hope you enjoyed it! Thanks for stopping by! Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteGood luck on the hunt! This Monstrous Thing sounds amazing - and I liked Frankenstein. Lol. I will have to read it for sure.
ReplyDeleteAnd yum Girl Scout cookies!
Good luck on the job! My daughter and I just watched the Doritos video and laughed at the idea of women sitting around being embarrassed by the crunchiness of their chips. Crazy!
