The Sunday Post #136

The Sunday Post is hosted by The Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to recap the past week, talk about next week, and share news. It’s Monday, What Are You Reading? is hosted by Book Date. I get to tell you what I’ve read recently.

On The Blog Last Week

On The Blog This Week

  • On Monday I review The Dumb House by John Burnside.
  • On Wednesday I review The Last One by Alexandra Oliva.
  • On Thursday there’s a tag.
  • On Saturday there’s a book haul.

In My Reading Life

Last week, I finished The Shell Collector by Anthony Doerr and The Butcher’s Hook by Janet Ellis. Then I read Crispin: The Cross of Lead by Avi. Right now, I’m reading Missing May by Cynthia Rylant and What is Not Yours is Not Yours: Stories by Helen Oyeyemi.

In The Rest Of My Life

Five things that made me laugh last week. (Olympic headlines edition):

1. Teenagers. *Sigh.*

2. Shut up, Brenda, you know nothing about snowboarding!

3. Teenagers. *Sigh.*

4. Ignore the trolls and be your fabulous self.

5. If you spend all your free time waving at cameras, you might as well make it interesting.

Take care of yourselves and be kind to each other! See you around the blogosphere!

Curious to see what you think of What is Not Yours is Not Yours: Stories by Helen Oyeyemi. That has been on my TBR for a while now and I keep skipping over it.

Hope you have a great week!

  7. I haven't watched the Olympics...at all. I don't get the fascination, but then, I'm an introverted nerd. LOL.

  9. Ooo, I hope you post a review of Butcher's Hook! I'm very curious about it, but the middling reviews have left me hesitant about picking up a copy for myself. Have a great week :)

  10. Those Memes are so funny, I love the idea of sending just someone out to give it a try so we can stop saying we can totally do that. So funny!

I hope you have a great week, AJ! Happy Reading!

  12. I cannot get over people wishing our athletes fail at the games. SMH. I hate how everything has become so political. In the immortal words of a 17 year old I taught back in the day, "Can't we just be human to each other?"

  13. Adam Rippon! He is so cool and such a sassy sweetheart. Same with the teenagers! I adore them. Chloe Kim is my hero.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend, AJ! =)

  16. I can't wait to read your thoughts on The Last One. That was one of my favorite books from last year. I haven't been watching the Olympics at all. I have been so busy with everything else. I can't wait to quit my job. It takes up too much of my time, lol!
    Have a great week!

  24. I'll be glad when the olympics are over! It's been stressful trying to get everything recorded during the night and trying to get it watched in amongst everything else that needs doing! THEN I can relax and watch my favourite events at leisure through the spring!
