Feature
& Follow is a weekly blog hop hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read.
This week’s question: What is the first book you remember
reading?
Answer: I hated reading when I was a kid and did everything in my
power to avoid it. One of the first books that I remember reading on my own and
actually enjoying was The Boxcar Children
by Gertrude Chandler Warner.
The Boxcar Children - Gertrude Chandler Warner
The Alden children begin their adventure by making a home in a boxcar. Their goal is to stay together, and in the process they find a grandfather. (Dang it, Goodreads, that is a terrible summary, and I don’t have time to write my own. The book is better than that. I promise.)
I remember being
so excited when I found out that there were sequels to this book. Unfortunately,
I hated all the sequels. Even as a nine-year-old, I was a passionate book snob.

How should I follow you? :)
Oh yeah, I couldn't get enough of The Boxcar Children series when I was growing up! Following you back on Bloglovin' (and Twitter, Goodreads, and Google Plus) :)
ReplyDeleteI think I read one of the books from the series, but then never continued it. I did that all the time when I was younger, and now I can't stand not finishing a series! Old follower!

I never read The Boxcar Children. I don't think my school library had them, but I read the heck out of The Berenstain Bears.

I can't believe I never read those when I was little! I just read tons of Dr. Seuss. I'm a new follower.

I've read the first few Boxcar Children, but it's been so long I barely remember then :P Maybe I'll go pick them up again!

I never read that series... I remember being a little book snob too. I loved Little Women by L. M. Alcott when I was a kid and when I found out there was a sequel I was really excited about it but then hated it.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by! I'm following via Bloglovin :)

I was a book snob too. Good thing that changed, or lessened. Haha!
