In My Reading Life

Last week, I read a memoir. It was Look Me In The Eye: My Life With Asperger's by John Elder RobisonThe author was a highly intelligent child with neglectful parents and undiagnosed autism. The first half of the book is about the havoc he caused as a child and teen. He dug giant holes, started fires, and tricked the local police and fire department into thinking that a human sacrifice was happening. It's very funny, but it's also sad because his parents just didn't care. They had too many of their own problems.

When the author realized he didn't "fit" anywhere in society, he dropped out of high school and made a place for himself in the world. His resilience and sense of humor are impressive. I enjoyed reading about his life.

In The Rest Of My Life

Five things that happened recently:

  1. It was my birthday. I'm another year closer to death.
  2. I've eaten a lot of excellent food lately. I had fried chicken, chocolate cake, and a burrito. It's hard to stay on a healthy diet because bad food is too good!
  3. After reading Look Me In The Eye, I wanted to know more about autism, so I watched Love On The Spectrum on Netflix. I don't usually watch dating shows, so I'm not sure how this one compares to the others. I thought it was very cute.
  4. I cleaned my office. I hate cleaning, but I'm a lot happier when things are clean.
  5. I have blog posts scheduled! Usually, I'm scrambling to get them done at the last minute. Also, this is my 400th Sunday Post. That's a lot of Sundays and posts.

More Shenanigans

Take care of yourselves and be kind to each other. See you around the blogosphere!

  1. Congratulations on another revolution about the sun! Yes, bad food is really good and way more convenient than healthy food. My daughter says we are both on the spectrum. She is most likely right. I agree about cleaning too.

  2. Happy belated birthday! I've been trying to cook more at home, but sometimes our schedules just don't allow for it.
