Green is one of my favorite colors. Books are one of my favorite objects. Of course I'm drawn to green book covers! (Yes, I judge books by their covers.) Here are a few of my favorite green (and green adjacent) book covers.

Green (+ Green Adjacent) Book Covers

book cover of Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery. The cover is an illustration of a young girl with red hair and a red dress. She is surrounded by trees and pink flowers.

Book cover of How To Breathe Underwater by Julie Orringer. The cover is a photo of 3 children swimming in a river. Thick green trees line the riverbanks.

Book cover of King and the Dragonflies by Kacen Callender. The cover is a close up painting of a Black child's face. He is surrounded by trees and dragonflies.

Book cover of My Sister, The Serial Killer by Oyinkan Braithwaite. The cover has an illustration of a black woman with large sunglasses. There is a reflection of a knife in her glasses.

Book cover of The Butcher's Hook by Janet Ellis. The cover is a photo of a white woman with red hair and a frilly mint-colored dress. There is blood on her dress sleeve.

Book cover of The Hazel Wood by Melissa Albert. The cover is a complicated drawing of objects interwoven with trees. The objects include a comb, a bone, a birdcage, papers.

Book cover of The Seven Husbands Of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid. The cover is a drawing of a woman with blond hair and a green dress laying on a green background.

Book cover of The Stranger In The Woods by Michael Finkel. The cover is a picture of tall tree trunks and a rusted yellow car.

Book cover of The Undertaking Of Hart and Mercy by Megan Bannen. The cover is an illustration of skeleton hands making a heart shape with their fingers. Inside the heart is a drawing of a man, a woman, and a headstone.

Book cover of The Watsons Go To Birmingham 1963 by Christopher Paul Curtis. The cover is green and looks metal, like a street sign.

Book cover of What It Means When A Man Falls From The Sky by Lesley Nneka Arimah. The cover is abstract. Watery green at the top and watery yellow at the bottom.

Do you have a favorite green book cover?

  2. Several of those books look interesting! I remember when "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance" came out and for the longest time I didn't want to read it because they had different colored covers and I thought that was tacky. It's one book I've read three times!
