Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Authors I Discovered In 2015

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s topic is top ten authors I discovered in 2015. I’m looking forward to reading more books from these talented people.

10. Gillian Flynn: If I want to read more psychological thrillers, I know where to look.

9. Ernest Cline: A lot of people have said that his second book isn’t as good as Ready Player One, but I’m still curious about it.

8. Neil Gaiman: I’ve read a few of his books for young people, and they made me want to read his adult fiction.

7. Becky Albertalli: I’ve discovered that hyped books rarely live up to the hype. Simon vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda is one of those rare books that actually deserves the hype it gets. It’s sweet and funny but not too fluffy.

6. Rene Denfeld: I think she’s only written one fiction book, but it’s a good one. The Enchanted is poetic and just plain weird. This story of a crazy death-row inmate stayed with me long after I read it.

5. Nancy Farmer: Do you like dystopias? Then you really need to check out The House of the Scorpion. It has fabulous worldbuilding and unique characters. It deserves all of those awards plastered on the cover.

4. Benjamin Alire Sáenz: I love the writing style in Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe. It’s obvious that this author has a background in poetry, and I’d be interested in seeing some of his poems.

3. Mindy McGinnis: I was on the fence about reading Not a Drop to Drink, but when I saw it at a scratch-and-dent sale, I had to get it. I’m so glad I did. I love the sparse writing style and survival plot.

2. V.E. Schwab: I read A Darker Shade of Magic and immediately bought Vicious. These books are so much fun to read.

1. Leslye Walton: Another hyped book that lived up to the hype! The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender is probably the best book I read this year. If you like family sagas or magical realism, you need to read it.

I will definitely check out Armada regardless of the lackluster reception! I still need to read Gaiman and Farmer but they're on the old tbr shelf too ;) Awesome picks^^ xx

  5. I tried reading Gone Girl a while ago, but absolutely didn't like it. Everyone keeps saying Flynn's other books are super good so I think I might give another book a try.
I love Ernest Cline, definitely check out the second one!

  8. You have a few here that I don't recall seeing before, so I will have to check them out. Gillian Flynn is a favorite of mine. She is one of the few buzz authors that I actually like.
