The Sunday Post #127

The Sunday Post is hosted by The Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to recap the past week, talk about next week, and share news. It’s Monday, What Are You Reading? is hosted by Book Date. I get to tell you what I’ve read recently.

On The Blog Last Week

On The Blog This Week

  • On Monday I review The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson.
  • On Tuesday I have suggestions for Santa.
  • On Wednesday I review All the Birds, Singing by Evie Wyld.
  • On Thursday I have a Christmas tag.
  • On Saturday there’s a book haul.

2018 Challenges

Next year, I’m once again going to be participating in the Discussion Challenge hosted by Feed Your Fiction Addiction and It Starts at Midnight. If you have any topics you’d like to see me blather about, let me know. I’ve been participating in this challenge for years, and I’m all out of ideas. Stupid things happen when I run out of ideas. Save me from my own stupidity! Give me discussion topics!

In My Reading Life

Last week, I reread A Darker Shade of Magic and A Gathering of Shadows by V.E. Schwab. Now I’m (finally!) reading A Conjuring of Light by V.E. Schwab. This was one of my most-anticipated releases of 2017. I swear I’m going to finish it before the end of the year.

In The Rest Of My Life

Five things that made me happy last week:

  1. Rereading a series I like.
  2. Christmas cookies! And Christmas music! I’m sorry to anyone who comes near my desk while I’m working. Those poor people get inundated with Christmas music. I’m probably driving everybody nuts. It’s not my fault that the Internet has so many Christmas playlists. Playlists are meant to be played. Loudly. For hours.
  3. Book mail.
  4. My laptop stopped making that ominous humming sound. (Or my music is so loud that I can’t hear it?) Whatever. I really hope it doesn’t come back because if my laptop breaks, I might have to actually go places and talk to people. *Shudder.*
  5. It snowed!

Take care of yourselves and be kind to each other! See you around the blogosphere!

  1. We had snow too. I think I am less excited about that though. Mmmm Christmas cookies. Sounds yummy. Book mail is the best! Have a great week!

  2. CHRISTMASSSSSS!!!!! XD

We've had snow here, but it hasn't stuck to the ground much. It did where my grandmother lives... but that's literally up a mountain so I guess it's not much of a surprise!!!

  3. Christmas music and cookies make me happy too! I'm going to my mom's next Friday, and I can't wait to start making christmas cookies. Though, I will admit that I mostly just like making them because I get to eat the dough lol Have a great week! :)

  4. We didn't have snow, thank goodness - but then we are only equipped to cope with drizzle here. I, too, enjoy Christmas music, but am fighting to resist the cookies until I've baked some homemade mince pies:). I hope the coming week is a good one for you.

  11. I'm still no 100% in the mood for Christmas but still couldn't say bah humbug to the tunes! Love seeing people in the Chritmas spirit (even if it's not me). Keep rockin' around the Christmas Tree and have a great week!

  12. A Darker Shade of Magic was a really great trilogy - extremely well crafted. It took me a while to get into the story as well as connect with the characters but in the end I was sad to see it come to its conclusion. I have high hopes you'll finish it this year. :D

Snow, bookmail and Christmas music are all high up my make Corina happy list. Unfortuanlly I won't see snow unless I seek it out (San Francisco gets rain but no snow). Book mail happens not often enough for my liking, and I've been playing Christmas music non-stop these last few weeks. I absolutely ADORE it!!! Makes me all festive inside. :D

  14. I still haven't decided what, if any, challenges I'm going to do next year. I keep saving the emails with the challenge sign-ups but haven't had a chance to sort thru them yet. Guess that better be my goal this week. Figure out what I'm doing. Ha!

  18. Now I really want to read A Darker Shade of Magic. I just need to find a slot on my full calendar to add it in. It is already sitting on TBR mountain. Your happy things are happy things for me too - minus the weird noises from a laptop. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

  24. I've heard of the Schwab series--what do you think about it?

We haven't done much in the Christmas cookie way, but that and traditions are always pretty awesome.

  25. I'm glad I don't work next to you then! If your cookies are chocolate chip, I'll steal them!
