The Sunday Post #192

There's still time to enter!

The Sunday Post is hosted by The Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to recap the past week, talk about next week, and share news. It’s Monday, What Are You Reading? is hosted by Book Date. I get to tell you what I’ve read recently.

On The Blog Last Week

On The Blog This Week

  • On Tuesday I tell you what makes me buy a book.
  • On Thursday I wrap up March.
  • On Saturday I review two adult books.

In My Reading Life

Last week, I finished After Zero by Christina Collins. It’s about a girl with selective mutism who’s trying to find out what happened to her brothers. It reminded me why I don’t need to “see myself” in fiction. Let’s leave all the unpleasantness in real life, shall we? I liked the book a lot, though. It’s well-written and full of family secrets. One of the best books I’ve read so far this year.

Then I read The Science of Breakable Things by Tae Keller. Another great book! It’s about kids trying to win an egg drop competition. The characters made me smile.

Right now, I’m reading Allegedly by Tiffany D. Jackson. Why did no one warn me about the descriptions of bodily fluids? Gross, guys. The plot is slow currently, but I think I’ll like this one, too.

In My Internet Stalking Life

In The Rest Of My Life

Five things that made me happy last week:

  1. Free pizza!
  2. It was an excellent reading week. I enjoyed everything I picked up.
  3. I got new books. (Shhh, don’t tell the old books.)
  4. I’m so close to getting caught up on book reviews. I have 3 left to write. Then I have to do a better job of staying on top of this madness.
  5. You still have a few days left to enter my giveaway. Thanks to everyone who has entered so far.

  2. Selected Mutism,Now that's something I need, lol. I made the terrible mistake of telling someone yesterday that I thought they were married before their husband, smh.

  10. I have my eye on After Zero. It's a good sign that you enjoyed it. I liked The Science of Breakable Things. I loved Nat and her squad, and SCIENCE! I questioned her father's certification as a therapists though, with the denial going on in his household.

    1. Yeah, I didn’t really understand what was happening with her father. He seemed to have a lot of unresolved issues with his mother and his ancestry.

So far, I've been really good about writing a review almost as soon as I finish the book. Now, if I could just get caught up with everything else in my life, that would be amazing... (*stares hard at the laundry and dishes*)
