True story. |
On The Blog Last Week

- On Tuesday I showed you all the hyped 2017 releases I failed to read.
- On Wednesday I reviewed A Game of Thrones by George RR Martin.
- On Thursday we figured out if I actually kept my 2017 resolutions.
- On Saturday there was a book haul.
On The Blog This Week
- On Monday I review The Penelopiad by Margaret Atwood.
- On Tuesday I list my 2018 resolutions.
- On Wednesday I review The Psychopath Test: A Journey Through The Madness Industry by Jon Ronson.
- On Saturday there’s a book haul.
In My Reading Life
Last
week, I finished The Beginning of the World in the Middle of the Night
by Jen Campbell, and Ararat by Christopher Golden. Right now, I’m
reading This Monstrous Thing by
Mackenzi Lee, and The Paper Menagerie
by Ken Liu.
In The Rest Of My Life
Five
things that made me happy last week:
- Are you doing the PopSugar or Read Harder challenge? Elliptical Man @ The View From The Third Floor has book suggestions for some of the prompts.
- It was warm enough to run outside without feeling completely miserable. Running in the snow isn’t fun, people.
- I was really hungry, and my parents just showed up with a pizza. It was like food telepathy or something. I got hungry and food appeared. I wish that always happened.
- New books. I didn’t need new books, but shhh.
- Whenever the world gets depressing, bookish Twitter finds a way to make things (slightly) hilarious.
Take care of yourselves and be kind to each
other! See you around the blogosphere!
Mmm pizza. I wish someone would just show up at my house with some. Yay for warmer weather. We had some for a bit but is now cold again. That display is great! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteFood telepathy sounds perfect. I wish someone would show up with food every time I was hungry. =P
ReplyDeleteHappy readings! ;)
Tânia @MyLovelySecret
I'm like you. I could be drowning in new books, which I pretty much always am anyway, lol, but getting new books always makes me happy. Hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteYum, pizza! No matter how many I have, I have no self control when it comes to getting more. ;) Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteI read (well reread) the Penelopiad a few years ago so will be interested to hear your thoughts.
ReplyDeleteI agree with your comment on bookish Twitter :) And I need to read Margaret Atwood, I've heard good things. Enjoy your week! That sarcasm quote is too funny :)
ReplyDeleteMagic pizza? I wish my parents had those super powers. Every once in a while I luck out and the husband has Chineese takeout, but hardly the same thing :) Have a great week, AJ!
ReplyDeleteDid you see this reading list? https://seattle.bibliocommons.com/list/share/72538732_raincitylibrarian/1121068447_quotshhole_countriesquot_a_reading_list
ReplyDeleteMan! I wish that I would get food thoughts and food automatically comes to me!
ReplyDeleteHere’s my Sunday Post!
Ronyell @ Rabbit Ears Book Blog and join in this week’s Book Photo Sundays!
Yay for pizza anytime, anywhere! I just had Pizza Hut last night with mushroom & green peppers :)
ReplyDeleteArarat sure looks interesting to me! Hope it's a good one.
I'm that one percent that doesn't like pizza.
ReplyDeleteAlso I love that display!
I don’t seem to be telepathic enough for food deliveries, but I was given a half a mincemeat pie yesterday—the last time I was able to regularly enjoy mincemeat pie was when I lived a few years in Upstate NY
ReplyDeleteI haven't run in a week because of how cold it was. And PIZZA. I haven't had those in a long time, damn...
ReplyDeleteSo glad to see your week to be pretty pleasant.
You're reading some great books! Parents have a sixth sense. They know when their kid needs comfort food. :-)
ReplyDeleteOh lol what kind of s##thole country? lmao! I would love for food appearing when I get hungry too :) A sort of Hogwarts. What you want to eat appearing in front of you in the dining room.
ReplyDeleteWhy is food telepathy not something science is working on?!?! And that is the best book display! I love when people show each other that one person's idiotic statements don't define us! (And seriously, why has no one told him to shut up yet!? Does the man NOT HAVE a PR person?!?)
ReplyDeleteI'm terribly curious about Psychopath Test and the Atwood book. They both sound fabulous.
ReplyDeleteI feel like that quote could apply to A LOT of UF and PNR characters lol. Food telepathy, now that would be a great superpower to have ;-) I know a lot of people say social media brings them down, but I've found it can be a great pick-me-up!
ReplyDeleteI love it when food just appears, especially when it's pizza! That book display is awesome! Happy reading, AJ! :)
ReplyDeleteWe just had pizza tonight. :-) I love that book display! I hope you are enjoying your reading! I am hoping to squeeze some in before I fall asleep tonight. We'll see how that goes. Have a great week, AJ!
ReplyDeletePizza showing up is the best . Especially when unexpected? And I love that display!!!
ReplyDeleteI wish food would appear when I'm hungry. That would be awesome. And I really liked The Psychopath Test so I'm curious to see what you think.

Now I want pizza. Yum! Hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteHahahaha -- We can all use pizza telepathy.
ReplyDeleteI need to finish reading Ararat. I started reading it last year, but it got pushed to the side for other things. Have a really great week!
ReplyDeleteI love that display! The Kite Runner was a great book...and now I'm thinking of pizza...
ReplyDeleteOMG, that quote abut being sarcastic... yep. I can totally see me getting taken out over some smartass comment I made. LOL There is never a bad time for pizza. Gold star to the 'rents for understanding your need. :) Loving that pic from the bookstore! Kudos to them.
ReplyDeleteI've got Ararat on my TBR list so I will be looking forward to your thoughts on it! New books are always a good thing, aren't they? I loved that you shared 5 things that make you happy - what a great idea! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteWe live way to close to Papa Murphy's which has pizza specials on Tuesdays. Still working on finishing last Tuesday's pie. I'm old and breakable so even walking on snow isn't a good idea for me. Come see my week here. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteRunning is the snow is scary! I'm always terrified I'll slip or freeze to death! Glad this week was better for getting out there.
ReplyDeleteI just had pizza the other day. I don't run outside or run inside but I love that when the weather is bad I can walk on my treadmill. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI wish someone would show up at my house with a pizza. Or cake. Cake would be good. You were running in the snow? Go you. I can't run in the best weather so I guess the snow doesn't really make a difference for me. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI'm not doing either challenge. Come see what I'm reading.
ReplyDeleteI wish people would show up with pizza for me. #LifeGoals. I did PopSugar last year, but it's way too hard this year. Good luck to anyone doing it.
ReplyDeleteLove the pizza thing and the pic from Twitter!
ReplyDeleteNicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction
Looks like you were busy last week. Cool. And so wild about the pizza. I love when that happens. :D Have a great week!
