The Sunday Post #96

The Sunday Post is hosted by The Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to recap the past week, talk about next week, and share news. It’s Monday, What Are You Reading? is hosted by Book Date. I get to tell you what I’ve read recently.

Happy Mother's Day!

On The Blog Last Week

On The Blog This Week

  • On Monday I review James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl.
  • On Wednesday I review The Witch of Blackbird Pond by Elizabeth George Speare.
  • On Thursday there will (hopefully) be a tag.
  • On Saturday I show you part 3 of my Massive Spring Book Haul.

In My Reading Life

Spring is here! The snow is melted, plants are growing, birds are . . . having sexy times. I’ve been outside instead of reading. This week, I finished The Library at Mount Char by Scott Hawkins. Right now, I’m rereading Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by J.K. Rowling. I forgot how huge that book is. I have a feeling May is going to be a terrible reading month for me. For some reason, I’m choosing huge books and then not reading them.

In The Rest Of My Life

Five things that made me happy last week:

  1. Outside time.
  2. Spring cleaning. I hate cleaning, but I like it when stuff is clean.
  3. The blog reached 900 Twitter followers and 200 G+ followers.
  4. I was promised there’d be chocolate cake on Mother’s Day.
  5. Delicious Mexican cheese mattress?

Take care of yourselves and be kind to each other! See you around the blogosphere!

  2. Ooh James and the Giant Peach. Sadly I remember very little of the Roald Dahl that I read as a kid. It would be fun to revisit.

"birds are... having sexytimes". Too funny. :)

    Congrats on the followers!

Oh my gosh I want that food!!! Tooty pebbles... hot wheels... lol. Best video of the week.

  3. Your summary of Spring arriving made me think of Jonathan Coulton's '1st of May'. It was the comment about the birds that did it.

I have been on a bit of a roll with my reading so far this month but I've been reading The Fellowship of the Ring so I think I might be slowing down a little too.

  5. Your mother's day meme rocks! I got to sleep in today. It was great. And I read for fun, which I've not been able to do for months! It felt amazing.

  7. Library of Mount Char is one of those books I requested from NetGalley but then never managed to read. It's just a guilt-inducer now. Did you like it?

    1. I liked it, but it’s so weird that I haven’t been able to write a review yet. I’m not sure what to say about it.

  8. I have so much that needs doing around this house that it depresses me thinking about it! Spring cleaning is going to become winter cleaning if I don't get moving!

  9. I like spring cleaning, too! However, my husband does not - he is so averse to decluttering and he has this knack for getting something dirty right after I've finished cleaning it.

  10. Wasn't The Library at Mount Char utterly disturbing and yet still good at the same time? I wonder if he has a new book coming out anytime soon? I need to do some spring cleaning as well.

  11. I remember reading the Witch of Blackbird Pond secretly in the stacks when I was working at my jr. high's library over the summer. As it was summer, I couldn't check it out!

I had a great week of reading and a fun mother's day. Come see what I'm reading now.

  12. I loved Witch of Blackbird Pond!

I don't love cleaning (the kids usually make it a mess again within the hour), but I am definitely feeling the spring impulse to deep clean and organize!

  14. I can't wait to read your thoughts of The Library at Mount Char. I loved that book but I know it isn't for everyone. I like the feeling when things get clean...but the cleaning isn't any fun. Have a great week!
