The Sunday Post #71

The Sunday Post is hosted by The Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to recap the past week, talk about next week, and share news. It’s Monday, What Are You Reading? is hosted by Book Date. I get to tell you what I’ve read recently.

On The Blog Last Week

On The Blog This Week

  • On Monday I review The Exorcist by William Peter Blatty.
  • On Tuesday I recommend books about history and current events.
  • On Wednesday I review Fake ID by Lamar Giles.
  • On Thursday I wrap up October.
  • On Saturday there’s a book haul.

In My Reading Life

Last week, I read Me Before You by Jojo Moyes and Leaving Fishers by Margaret Peterson Haddix. I also read the Colorado Ballot Blue Book, which is long, boring, and should totally count toward my Goodreads challenge. Right now, I’m slowly making my way through The Power of Myth by Joseph Campbell.

In The Rest Of My Life

Five things that made me happy last week:

  1. I voted! Go away, campaign ads, you can’t influence me anymore. Also, I’m thankful for mail-in ballots. Standing in lines makes me feel squirrely.
  2. I discovered that peanut butter M&Ms are a thing. Caramel M&Ms are also going to be a thing soon.
  3. Having classic horror movies on the TV while I’m doing stuff around the house. I watched parts of The Exorcist, Psycho, and The Birds.
  4. Spending my used bookstore credits.
  5. My neighbors are unusual people.

I hope you had a great week! See you around the blogosphere!

  1. Props to you for reading the ballot book. You're probably more informed than most! And yes the voting- this election both scares me and make me want it to be so over. lol I love The Birds, such a great movie. It's spooky when all those birds are just hanging out on the phone lines.

Love your Trump/ neighbor note too. Ha ha

    1. The Birds is one of my favorite horror movies. The constant squawking does get a bit annoying, though.

  2. Glad you voted early! I'm hoping this election goes by well, what with all the drama that's going on with both parties.

  5. I'm so ready to vote...unfortunately I haven't been able to get in early, so I might end up standing in line forever on the 8th. But I'll be glad when it's done.
Peanut Butter M&M's are some of my favorites!! They also put out a Butterscotch flavor but it's only available in Target I think, it's good but not something I cane at a lot of.

I hope you have an awesome week!

    1. Butterscotch M&Ms! I didn’t know about these. Now I have a reason to go to Target.

  6. I'm glad you voted! For the past few years I've been quietly crying about how few people actually seem to go out and vote. I'm not sure if it's just the people I know (I don't live in America, but I know a few people there) or if it's common.

I'm laughing at the Trump thing, because that could really go either way. I think I'm leaning towards the Halloween thing if they put it up at the same time as their decorations, but you never know with people these days.

    1. I hope a lot of people vote this time. Pretty much everyone I know has already voted or plans to.

  7. I am giggling over Halloween decorations and Trump sign. Caramel m&m's don't say it's so, I will be all over that, yum.

I think I loved both the book and movie but the movie more for Fight Club.

    1. Yeah, the ambiguous Halloween decorations made me laugh. I’m super excited for caramel M&Ms. I need to find some when they come out.

  8. Hurray for voting being over and done with! I really want to rewatch The Birds sometime soon. I can't remember the last time I saw it! I'm curious to see what you thought of Me Before You too! Have a great week :D

    1. Thanks! I actually liked Me Before You, which is really strange because it’s a romance.

  10. I SO meant to vote this weekend, but wound up napping for vast chunks of time instead. We have mail-in ballots here, so I could take care of it any time. Gotta get on that.

    1. Naps are important, so I don’t blame you for napping instead of voting.

  11. Those peanut butter ones are soooo good. We coudn't find them here in The Netherlands, so we ordered them from the US ones. Yummy!!
Sounds like you've got some good reading done. I hope this week is just as good for you! ;)

  12. Feels so good to know you've had your say, doesn't it?

My partner and I went and saw a special screening of Psycho, in which our local orchestra played the movie score while the film was projected on a big screen. Such a fantastic experience.
