The Sunday Post #162

Not sure what's happening here, but I'm going to stand far, far away from it . . .

The Sunday Post is hosted by The Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to recap the past week, talk about next week, and share news. It’s Monday, What Are You Reading? is hosted by Book Date. I get to tell you what I’ve read recently.

On The Blog Last Week

On The Blog This Week

  • On Tuesday I talk about the trash I’ve been watching on TV.
  • On Thursday I wrap up August.
  • On Saturday I mini review some nonfiction books.

In My Reading Life

Last week, I finished Stranded by Bracken MacLeod. This is a very strange book that took me a long time to read because I kept putting it down to think about the strangeness. Mostly, I liked it, but I didn’t believe the ending. Humans don’t behave like that.

Right now, I’m reading The Last Harvest by Kim Liggett. It’s about a bunch of high school students who are possessed by demons. Seems like a pretty typical high school experience to me.

In My Internet Stalking Life

In The Rest Of My Life

Five things that made me happy last week:

  1. Scientists discovered a 90,000-year-old human hybrid person. Someone should write a novel about ancient human hybrid people.
  2. My dog is okay! I debated taking her to the vet for weeks because I wasn’t sure if she was sick or if I was paranoid. I finally took her to the vet. She has an ear infection, but mostly I’m paranoid. That’s bad news for my brain, but let’s focus on the positive. The dog isn’t sick!
  3. I did a massive purge of my to-be-read list. I deleted several hundred books. I still have about 300 books on the list, but being realistic is overrated.
  4. I decided that I’m only going to review spooky books in October. Come back on Saturdays in October if you like spooky stuff.
  5. Trumpsters explain “Space Force.” I laughed really hard. Also, I’m terrified for the future of humanity.

  8. I am glad you liked Salt to the Sea. I have that (among a million others) on my TBR pile to read. One of these days. :-) I am glad your dog is okay! I would rather be paranoid than miss something. And if it turns out to be nothing or something minor--than all the better. I want to laugh whenever I see these interviews with Trump's supporters, but I fall in the "more terrified" category. I need to get a sense of humor about it. It would save my sanity. I hope you have a great week!

    1. I hope you read Salt to the Sea soon! It’s one of my favorites of the year so far. I’d also rather be paranoid than right. I don’t like spending money on unnecessary vet visits, but the paranoia was getting too intense.

  9. Well I'm glad your dog is ok. Ours has an ear infection in addition to being old. Yes some of the things going on in the world are terrifying and unkind.

Books make everything better. I can't believe you deleted books. I guess if you won't read them. I have 1000s on my Kindle but at the rate I read I'm going to need them once I retire. I only have about 10 years of books at my current rate. lol Anne - Books of My Heart
