The
Sunday Post is hosted by The Caffeinated Book
Reviewer. It’s a chance to recap the past week, talk about next week, and
share news. It’s Monday, What Are You Reading? is hosted by Book Date. I get to tell you what I’ve read recently.
On The Blog Last Week
- On Monday I reviewed Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology by Leah Remini.
- On Wednesday I reviewed Sleeping Giants by Sylvain Neuvel.
- On Thursday I wrapped up May.
On The Blog This Week
- On Monday I review The Optician of Lampedusa by Emma-Jane Kirby.
- On Tuesday I show you some recent disturbing additions to my TBR list.
- On Wednesday I review Fairy Tales from the Brothers Grimm by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm.
- On Thursday we talk about those times I almost accidentally died. (This is book-related, I swear.)
In My Reading Life
Last week, I finished Black
Dove, White Raven by Elizabeth Wein and Station
Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel. Right now, I’m rereading Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
by J.K. Rowling.
In The Rest Of My Life
Five things that made me happy last week:
- Chinese food.
- My mom’s garage sale is done! Seriously, why are those things so much work?
- I did have way too much fun decorating the garage sale signs and sticking them around the neighborhood . . . . I’m sure the neighbors were impressed with my artistic skills.
- I started a new organizational/goal tracking system to help me manage my time better. (“Manage my time” means spend fewer hours screwing around on social media.) We’ll see how well it works.
- Speaking of social media, do you guys follow Neil Gaiman on Twitter? If we raise $500,000 to help refugees, he’ll do a live reading of the entire Cheesecake Factory menu. If you want to support this delightful ridiculousness, you can donate here. Also, check out #NeilCake on Twitter.
Take care of yourselves and be
kind to each other! See you around the blogosphere!
Chinese food would make me happy because my husband doesn't eat it so I never get to. Good luck with the tracking system. Can't wait to see your thoughts on Station Eleven - Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteChinese food lol. I could eat it EVERY day. Well with an occasional break for pizza. Can I just be a kid and display no self discipline at all when it comes to food?? And garage sales- ugh. I remember as a kid my mom and aunt would "recruit" me to help sticker things- it seemed to take hours. they were so moethodical about these things lol.
ReplyDeleteThat Neil Gaiman thing is cool, and I hadn't heard it. Will definitely check it out!
Ugh, my husband and I eat way too much Chinese food - we've been better about this year, but OMG, for years we ate it like once a week. It's so good, though, I can't help it!
ReplyDeleteI just love Chinese food! I need to get some during the week! I didn't know that Neil Gaiman was going to read at the Cheesecake Factory. This sounds exciting!
ReplyDeleteHere’s my Sunday Post!
Ronyell @ Rabbit Ears Book Blog and join in this week’s Book Photo Sundays!
I really hope you liked Station Eleven! I read that a while back and really liked it :)
ReplyDeleteAnd I hadn't heard of that Neil Gaiman thing, but it sounds so awesomely random, I'll have to check it out! :)
Ooh what did you think of White Raven?! I've just got The Pearl Thief and I'm so excited to listen to the audio soon. 😍 And garage sales are SO much work, I hear you there. 😂
ReplyDeleteOoooh! I'm so excited to see what you think of Station Eleven! That's one I never did get around to reading but I've always been intrigued by it. I need to check out that fundraiser too! I don't know why, but hearing him read the Cheesecake Factory menu is something I need in my life...
ReplyDeleteHere's my Weekly Recap!
I took myself out for Chinese food last week. First time in months I've had it.
ReplyDeleteArmchair Book Expo, getting ready to move, drama club, and a volunteers' tea. Come see what I'm reading this week.
I miss Chinese takeout...calling it in and then lining up the cartons on the coffee table after it arrives. Bliss!
ReplyDeleteI always like your five things....and I can agree about garage sales. I dread them because they do take so much organization...and then clearing up is another tedious task.
Here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES
I really liked Station Eleven -- hope it's a hit with you. Good luck with your social media changes.
ReplyDeleteOoo... Looking forward to your thoughts on the Grimm tales. I know all about wasting time on social media - good luck with that goal. And now I want Chinese food...
ReplyDeleteGarage sales are a ridiculous amount of work. I haven't had one in a long time since I am not really sure if they are worth the effort. I spend days laboring just to sell everything for a quarter. I hope you did well at your sale. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI miss Chinese food. I used to love the mild prawn curries and mandarin chicken but the local takeaways insist on making the curry sauce so hot that tears stream out your eyes and I haven't been able to have one in YEARS!
