The Sunday Post #79

The Sunday Post is hosted by The Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to recap the past week, talk about next week, and share news. It’s Monday, What Are You Reading? is hosted by Book Date. I get to tell you what I’ve read recently.

On The Blog Last Week

On The Blog This Week

  • On Monday I review Astray by Amy Christine Parker.
  • On Tuesday I list some 2016 releases I failed to read.
  • On Wednesday I review Children of the New World: Stories by Alexander Weinstein.
  • On Thursday we figure out if I actually kept my 2016 resolutions.

In My Reading Life

I read 5 books last week! Don’t be too proud of me; they were all around 100 pages. I read them for #DAReadathon and to get ahead on my Goodreads challenge. Right now, I’m reading Let’s Pretend This Never Happened: (A Mostly True Memoir) by Jenny Lawson.

In the rest of my life

Five things that made me happy last week:

  1. Harry Potter movie marathon.
  2. All those “best books of 2016” lists on blogs. So many things I need to read. You guys are going to drown me in books.
  3. My parents went to Breckenridge and brought me back some art for my office walls.
  4. Participating in my first readathon ever.
  5. 800 Twitter followers!

Take care of yourselves and be kind to each other! See you around the blogosphere!

  2. Five books in a week is pretty impressive... not matter how long they are!

  3. Art is such a nice gift! How sweet of your mum and dad.
I have often been tempted to watch Harry Potter because I am the rare bird who has not been able to read through even the first book, but I keep telling myself that one day I will pick it up at just the right time and will find it to my liking...Then I will watch the movies.
I know what you mean by going crazy with all of the 'best of' lists. I am one to pick books off from those lists and am currently working on a dozen or so of them, which of course I don't intend to complete. I am kind of picking and choosing what looks to be the most promising and then going from there. I used to have dozens of series that I was working on, and since I don't read series very often these days, I figure there is room for other bookish pursuits.
I am not really familiar with most of your books, aside from Between the World and Me, which I haven't read, but am interested in. I look forward to seeing what you think of it and finding out what your other books are all about. Enjoy.

    1. Those “best of” lists are crazy. I see something I want to read on pretty much every list I look at. I know I can’t read _that_ many books, so I have to get better at prioritizing.

  4. YAY FOR HARRY POTTER MARATHONS! I need to do that again soon... I'm really interested to see your review of Astray. I've seen really mixed ratings. Congrats on your 800 followers, by the way! Have a great week :D

  5. I've never done a readathon. I feel like my whole life is one big readathon.

All those "best of 2016" posts are killer. My TBR is about 10 years long now! Ha ha

    1. My life feels like a readathon, too. I was skeptical when I signed up for DA Readathon because I wasn’t sure if I’d like it, but I enjoy the social media aspect. It’s cool to see what other people are reading.

  8. Looks like you had a great reading week! I did a lot of reading at the end of Dec but then this past week (the first week of the year) I started several books that just didn't do anything for me and it threw me off!

  9. It sounds like you had a wonderful week! And I'm glad that you had fun during your readathon. Have a good week, and happy reading! :)

  10. My husband and I did a HP movie binge last month. Brought home a few for the kids, but they were too scared by the fourth movie, so we finished it after they went to bed. Then, without any further discussion, continued to watch the rest of the movies over the next week. Great fun.

    1. Lol, I would have done the same thing. Poor kids, though. The movies do get kind of scary.

  11. Haha, every time I read short books or graphic novels I also feel the need to tell everyone not to get too excited or jealous because it only *looks* like a read a lot :-P But five is still good anyway!

I also loved all the best of 2016 posts, so much positivity! And congrats on 800 Twitter followers :-) Have a great week!

    1. Lol, if I don’t tell people that I only read short books, they’ll want to know how I managed to read so much. Then I’ll have to tell them, “I cheated.”

  12. Five books, regardless of page count, is amazing! Go you! A great way to start off the new year. Another great way of starting the new year - Harry Potter movie marathon! I keep meaning to do this myself now that I've finished my Harry Potter reread. Congrats on 800 Twitter followers. Happy reading!
