The Sunday Post #59

The Sunday Post is hosted by The Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to recap the past week, talk about next week, and share news. It’s Monday, What Are You Reading? is hosted by Book Date. I get to tell you what I’ve read recently.

On The Blog Last Week

On The Blog This Week

  • On Monday I review I’ll Meet You There by Heather Demetrios.
  • On Tuesday I show you some eye-catching book covers.
  • On Wednesday I review Dracula by Bram Stoker.
  • On Saturday I have a book haul.

In My Reading Life

Well, this week's reading made up for the epic crappiness that was last week. I liked all of these books. I read Echo by Pam Muñoz Ryan, The Game of Love and Death by Martha Brockenbrough, and A Long Way from Chicago by Richard Peck.

In The Rest Of My Life

The universe has been testing my will to live lately, but here are five things that made me happy last week:

  1. Writing my July wrap-up. Wrap-ups always make me feel like I accomplished something.
  2. Bloglovin’ is working for me again! Well, everything on it isn’t working, but it works well enough for me to use it.
  3. I started a Couch to 5k running program. My hips hurt a little, but the actual running hasn’t been too difficult yet.
  4. Books came in the mail.
  5. Letting a random number generator pick what I read is a lot more fun than writing out a monthly TBR.

I hope you had a great week! See you around the blogosphere!

  2. I kind of love the idea of a generator randomly choosing what I read. Then again, I'd probably choose myself anyway. I tried the TBR jar once but ended up putting back the books I wasn't really in the mood for.
Good luck with the Couch to 5K! I really need to start something like that but it has been raining almost every day here.
    Happy Reading!

    1. I’m usually not a mood reader, so the generator has been working well for me. It makes my reading life more interesting.

  3. I've been having trouble with Bloglovin too. For the longest time it was only loading like 5 posts at a time and then all of a sudden back to normal. No idea what happened. I'm starting a couch to 5K next week! I'm terrified but I need to do something. Glad to here you're enjoying it despite the hip pain and hopefully that will get better soon. Have a great week!

    1. That’s exactly what happened to me with Bloglovin’. It seems to be working okay now. Good luck with your couch to 5k!

  4. Books in the mail are always a good thing, and a random generator is a neat idea! I read based on mood but yeah sometimes have a hard time deciding- that might be a fun way to break the impasse. Looking forward to book covers... and A Long Way from Chicago looks good.

  8. Ooh, I hardly ever see people reading A Game of Love and Death BUT I LOVE IT SO MUCH SO YAYYY! It's entirely underrated I think. :') And awk, I'm glad things are looking up for you! (I agree that writing wrapups are so fun and satisfying. Luurve it.) And good luck with your running! I've been running for like 3 years now, but I only do about 1.5kms in the morning, which really isn't that much. XD But it's fun! I kind of think about competing at running something someday.... But probably not because I am like 3/4 potato.

    1. I’m mostly potato, too, so I’ll never be a competitive runner. I just want to be healthier, and I like challenges.

I'm curious about Echo. Enjoy your new week, and congrats on the fitness program.

  10. Congrats on starting the Couch to 5K! My sister is in week 4 and she is loving it.

I love the idea of using a random number generator to pick out your book. Does that mean you went through them all and assigned them a number?

    1. I didn’t number them. All my TBR books are on the same shelf, so I just pick a number and count along the shelf.

  11. I love using random.org to choose at least one book a month for me. Sometimes, I can't get them without spending more than I'm prepared to that particular month, and I'll choose again, but generally I go with the random pick.

  12. Yay for a better reading week. I feel like I've been hitting a lot of 3 star reads lately which can be a bit depressing. Good but not great!

Good luck with the running program!

    1. Whenever I hit a string of 3-star books, I always wonder if something is wrong with me or the books . . .
