FF Friday: In Which I Potentially Screw Up Great Literature

Feature & Follow is a weekly blog hop hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read.

This week’s question: If you could rewrite a book, which one would it be, and what changes would you make?

Answer: This question is a bit presumptuous. It assumes that I know how to rewrite someone else’s book. I really shouldn’t be given that kind of power. Nothing good will come of it.

Instead of having me rewrite a book, can I make Suzanne Collins rewrite Mockingjay? I love The Hunger Games trilogy, but there’s so much stuff in Mockingjay that could have been explored in more depth. I needed that book to be, like, three times longer. Or, can we have a fourth book? That would be awesome. I’d probably read a hundred Hunger Games books.

The follow part: If you are a book blogger and you leave a link to your blog in the comments below, I will follow you on Bloglovin’. I’d love it if you also followed me. If you want to be friends on Goodreads, TwitterBookLikes, or G+, that would be awesome, too. Click the links to go to my pages on those sites. I’m looking forward to “meeting” you.

  1. I think Suzanne Collins has done all she could with the Hunger Games. I absolutely hated the last book and I have no idea how she could possibly make it any better. As for me? I'm not sure I'd try and rewrite any book, really. If there's anything at all.. I'd have both Harry and Voldemort die at the end. Everything else the same, they just both bite the dust.

  2. I agree that there were so many more things that could have been explored in Mockingjay. I especially wish the ending had been expanded since it felt tacked on to me, and I wasn't satisfied with how the romance played out (not because I was unhappy with who she ended up with but because I felt like it was kind of presented as an afterthought).

  4. Nooo I think Mockingjay is perfect! Even if it did kind of ruin me...

  5. I completely agree with you! Mockingjay could've been flushed out more or even another book there is so much happening there and in some places it feels rushed.

  6. Oh I so agree, Mockingjay could have been a lot better, in my humble opinion :)

  7. Well. I did love Mockingjay. HOWEVER, I am on board with anything that prolongs the series forever, so I am game :) Or we could just have EVERYONE else's POVs. That way, the events wouldn't have to change, but we could have extra insight? Yes, yes. AND prequels!
