Reader Problems Tag

This has nothing to do with this post. I just like it.

I’ve seen a bunch of people doing this Reader Problems tag, and I want to play along. If you’re also participating, please post a link in the comments below so I can see your answers.

1. You have 20,000 books on your TBR. How in the world do you decide what to read next?

It would take me approximately 273 years to read 20,000 books (assuming that each book has about 350 pages and I don’t change my current reading speed). So, I’d just pick a book that sounds interesting and try not to stress about the massive TBR.

2. You’re halfway through a book and you’re just not loving it. Do you quit or commit?

Most likely commit. The only books that I’ve quit in the past few years have been self-published books that are so poorly written that they’re nearly unreadable.

3. The end of the year is coming and you’re so close, but so far away on your Goodreads reading challenge. Do you try to catch up and how?

I’ll try to catch up by reading the shortest books I can find.

4. The covers of a series you love do not match. How do you cope?

Actually, I only have a few series with matching covers. Most of my series don’t match. It doesn’t bother me that much. I do wish that I had all of the Harry Potter books in hardcover, though. My paperbacks are falling apart.

5. Everyone loves a book you really don’t like. Who do you bond with over shared feelings?

I’m fine with being alone in my hatred of a book. Or, I can go on Goodreads. I guarantee that there will be a sarcastic gif-filled review written by someone who hates the book as much as I do.

6. You’re reading a book and you are about to start crying in public. How do you deal?

Why am I in public? I don’t go in public.

7. A sequel to a book you loved just came out, but you’ve forgotten a lot from the prior novel. Will you re-read the book? Skip the sequel? Try to find a synopsis on Goodreads? Cry in frustration?

Re-read the book. If I liked it the first time, I won’t have a problem reading it again.

8. You do not want anyone—ANYONE—borrowing your books. How do you politely tell people ‘nope’ when they ask?

I don’t have a problem with people borrowing my books, but if I did, I’d say: “No, you can’t borrow my books.” I’m usually pretty blunt about things.

9. Reading ADD. You’ve picked up and put down 5 books in the last month. How do you get over your reading slump?

Force myself to keep reading or re-read one of my favorites.

10. There are so many new books coming out that you’re dying to read! How many do you actually buy?

Probably all of them, eventually. I might wait a few years for some of them to start showing up in used bookstores. Then I’d buy them.

11. After you’ve bought the new books you can’t wait to get to, how long do they sit on your shelf before you get to them?

Usually about 2-4 weeks. Though, I did recently finish a book that I got in December. I guess some of them sit around for 2-4 months.

I felt like hugging you here! lol

Definitely agree on the GR thing. There will ALWAYS be someone else who hated it. Hooray for GR!

    1. Lol. I’m an introvert. I’m not a big fan of the public. :)

  2. Agree with you on leaving a book if I am not loving it. I have done it quite a few times. I just can't go ahead with a book if I don't like it even if I have completed more than half of it.
I too pick up short books to reach my Goodreads goals. I did that last year. But this year I kept a goal so low that I will not need to do it this year. I didn't want to rush like last year :)

    1. I set a very low Goodreads goal, too. I think I reached last year’s goal in August. I tried to be slightly more ambitious this year.

  3. HAHAH that amount of books it took for you to read 20000 books though xD and yeah, I agree with you about the being alone in the hatred for a book. Hahaha it doesn't bother me that much too, I'd rather just fume to myself.

    1. Yeah, I don’t plan on living long enough to read 20,000 books.
