Reading while walking should be considered an extreme sport. That
lady is about 2 seconds away from wandering into traffic. Sorry, lady. Been
there, done that.

In My
Reading Life
Last
week, I finished The Long Shadow of Small Ghosts by Laura Tillman.
Then I read Tin Man by Sarah Winman.
Right now, I’m reading The Smell of Other
People’s Houses by Bonnie-Sue Hitchcock.
In my Internet-Stalking Life
- Remember that Markus Zusak book that was supposed to be published in 2011? Yeah, me neither. I completely forgot about it until Twitter reminded me last week. It’s coming out in October 2018! (Supposedly.)
- Tracy @ Cornerfolds recommended some podcasts about love and horror.
- Do you like tag posts? Do you like zombie apocalypses? Good news! Jessica @ Reading With Jessica has a tag for you.
In The Rest Of My Life
Five
things that made me happy last week:
- Chocolate.
- My dog is (mostly) okay. She was acting weird and lethargic, so I took her to the vet. Turns out, she has arthritis and muscle atrophy. That’s not great news, but at least she’s not dying or anything. She’s just freakin’ old.
- I’ve been feeling burnt out with blogging lately, so I’ve decided to change everything. Well, that’s probably an overstatement. You’ll still get your fill of books, top hats, and grayscale everything. I’m not going anywhere. Things are just going to start looking different over the next few weeks.
- I tried a bath bomb. It made my bathroom smell like birthday cake. It also made me smell slightly more like birthday cake than usual.
- I have 100 Instagram followers! I’m impressed because I have no clue what I’m doing with that website. I just pull books off my shelf, try to arrange them in the most pretentious way possible, and take a photo. Is this how you win at Instagram? Am I winning?
Take care of
yourselves and be kind to each other! See you around the blogosphere!
Yes you are winning at IG lol. Chocolate is always something that makes me happy. Glad your dog is ok and just old. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteGrowing old is tough. I can relate to your dog. I guess it's good news that the symptoms are normal and nothing more serious. Congratulations on your 100 followers! I have seen you pictures. I thought they were good. Sweets are not so much my downfall, but I went out to lunch with my sister yesterday, and we had pizza and wings. It was pretty much the perfect meal for me. But if I do chocolate, it must be dark, and none of that crimes-against-cholate white chocolate stuff.
ReplyDeleteChocolate is always good! I'm glad your dog is ok! Can't wait to see the changes to the blog!
ReplyDeleteGlad your dog is okay. Chocolate always helps to make things happy. I know what you mean about blogging. I'm getting that way, too, and I'm trying to decide what changes to make. I'm not going anywhere either :) Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI don't know what to do with Instagram either. I am so sorry to hear your pup is getting old. That's sad, but at least she is hanging in there. At first I thought you pup was sick because of chocolate. Dogs and chocolate don't really mix. I feel that way about blogging sometimes too. I am having a real hard time keeping up with everything else I have going on. I am hoping that once I am working with books, I will be able to focus on them at work too. I feel guilty thinking about my blog while I am work since they are not related at all atm. Have a great week and good luck with the changes.
ReplyDeleteIt's your birthday month, we should be sending you books!
ReplyDeleteYou’re winning at IG for sure. :) I am glad there was nothing seriously wrong with your dog. Blogwise, you do what makes you happy. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteI don't care for instagram it's so annoying you can like pictures but you can't add them to your instagram - idk - I am not crazy about it. If I am not connected I'll go over and connect there with you. Hope you doggie feels better. I have a 8 almost 9 year old dog and a 2 year old dog. Every 7 years I get a new rescue dog. =)
ReplyDeleteMary my #SundayRoundup
1. Yummy.
ReplyDelete2. Probably shouldn't be so close to the chocolate.
3. As you wish.
4. If I knew you in the physical world, I would probably appreciate this more. But it's good that you smell nice.
5. You seem to make friends easily. So I'm not surprised.
I need to get on the bath bomb wagon. I'm glad your dog is OK. I have an oldy dog, too.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on getting 100 instagram followers, I guess you are winning! I have no clue what to do with it ha ha. I love bath bombs, especially the ones that look like little cakes. Shame you can't eat them when they smell that good, though. Glad your dog is okay.
ReplyDeleteChocolate always makes me happy! I am actually hunting some down now (well I'm thinking about what kind of chocolate I have in the house). Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week. =)
Alyssa @ The Eater of Books!
Chocolate always makes me happy. Ans bringing about changes to blogging is good. Every spring I get the itch to do things differently.
ReplyDeleteCongrats! I would be the same with Instagram. I've thought about posting but not had the courage to start. I love chocolate and anything birthday cake related. I understand blog burnout since mine lasted 2 years but I'm okay now and trying not to overwhelm myself. Enjoy your week!
ReplyDeleteGood to hear your dog is mostly okay other than being old. That sucks about his arthritis though. I should investigate more about booking with Instagram. I already have a personal account but I wouldn't post my book stuff there. Do you write a mini review with your posts on that? I don't know, I still like finding out about my books on blogs or GRs. Guess I'm an old dog without new tricks, lol. :)
ReplyDeleteSo happy to hear your dog is doing better :) I'm intrigued by the upcoming "geography lesson" and the changes you'll be making to your blog! Can't wait to see them take shape in the coming weeks. Hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteSo glad about your dog! Also, bath bombs are great at making you feel like dessert. Did you get yours at Lush? Enjoy your upcoming weeks! I can't follow you here on blogspot, so I'll add you on Goodreads to keep up with your book adventures :D
ReplyDeleteHaven't heard of the books you're reading hope they are good. Chocolate and dogs make the world go round. I'm so allergic to bath bombs. Bad stuff happens. I'll leave those to you.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a fabulous week.

Sorry your dog has arthritis :-/ I've been feeling a bit burnt out too. It's just kind of exhausting keeping up with everything! Lol about the bath bomb. Yep, sounds to me you are totally winning at instagram! (Says the person who doesn't even use it) ;-) Congrats on the 100 followers!
ReplyDeleteYour new reads are new to me. Enjoy them both.
ReplyDeleteI took a bath for the first time in ages this past weekend and it felt glorious! (Though slightly cold on my belly that was sticking out of the water XD) Glad your dog isn't dying or anything! But yeah dogs get old, sadly. My boyfriend's dog (actually his mom's dog) is getting old too and she's half deaf at this point.
ReplyDeleteI'm stocking up on chocolate at the moment so I don't run short again like I did in the winter storms! I don't feel like eating any at the moment though.
ReplyDeleteWhen I read about your dog, I knew I had to tell you about Cosequin. I am not selling the product but this stuff is amazing. My cat had joint issues and my vet recommended that I try it on him. I got the small dog, capsules, sprinkle capsules and I opened them up and sprinkled the meds on his food. Within days, he was walking around so much better. I used on capsule per day. When we went on vacation, and he didn't get the meds, you sure could tell the difference. My dads dog has problems and he tried it and he's sold. He's telling all his friends about it and he told his vet which said that was an option he didn't tell him about. The sell the pills at Walmart, Petco, Amazon, etc. and it's based on your animals weight. They also sell the same thing (under a different name) for humans when we have joint issues. This might be something to check into. It takes a couple days to see results.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the Instagram followers! And chocolate is always a happy occurrence.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear you've been having blogger burnout - switching it up and trying new things is always a good idea when feeling like that. I hope it helps.
A lovely week to you, bookish & otherwise.
Blogger burn-out... ugh. That sucks but I’ll be looking forward to seeing what you have up your sleeve. Birthday cake bath bombs? Yes please. I wanted to take a bath the other night but didn’t because my bath goodie basket was depleted. The Husband did not understand this catastrophe. “Arrange them in the most pretentious way possible.” Bahaha. I love this.
ReplyDeleteChange is good and get you out of your blogging slump.
ReplyDeleteI got just a shitload of swiss chocolate and it makes me so happy. So sorry that the doggy has arthritis! And I'm sort of afraid of bath bombs. One, I can't handle baths, and two - they just sound really messy. I'm happy you walked out of it smelling like a birthday cake though.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you're winning instagram... I just followed you :)
ReplyDeleteOf sorry to hear about your dog arthritis and muscle atrophy. :( but glad to hear it's just that she is old.
ReplyDeleteThank you again for that birthday giveaway!
birthday cake bath bomb huh? That sounds like heaven! Congrats n your 100 Instagram followers! I wish I could tell you about Instagram It is such as mystery to me too LOL
Chocolate is #1 on my list every day, forget week. LOL.
ReplyDeleteSorry about the doggie, but glad she's relatively okay.
Smelling like birthday cake is not a bad thing. :D Hope you have a great week!
Lol, I have no idea how to win at Instagram either but I do enjoy looking at all the pretty book pictures so maybe that IS it?
ReplyDeleteI'm @pussreboots on instagram if you want to follow. I've never tried a bath bomb. Come see what I'm reading
ReplyDeleteYay for 100 Instagram followers! That's awesome! :)
ReplyDeleteWell, it's not great news about your dog, but at least it's not the worst! Looks like overall, you had a pretty decent well, and you have an even better one! Thanks for stopping by! Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteChocolate always makes me happy :) It is always sad to watch your pets grow old. I am glad he is basically okay. I have a 13 year old dog so sometimes we have to take things slow at my house.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to seeing what kind of changes you make on the blog. It can be fun to change things up a bit.
ReplyDeleteI also have no clue how to win at Instagram. I haven't tried Bookstagram but just looking at my personal account, it's clear I have no clue and only posted like maybe 5 pics all last year, lol.
Looking forward to seeing how you change things up!
ReplyDeleteNicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction
I'm liking the changes so far, and hope you are too. My sister's dog, whom my kids refer to as "our dog," is getting quite old, and we are all trying to just enjoy her company while we still can. I don't use my instagram, but I do really like your photos.
