The Life Of A Blogger Tag

This is the Life of a Blogger Tag. I don’t think I was tagged by anybody, but I wanted to do it. If you want to play along, I tag you.

1. How long have you been a blogger?

I think I started my first blog in 2005, but I’ve only been blogging about books for 3 years.

2. At what point do you think you’ll stop?

Every time I stop, I end up coming back. I can’t quit you, blogging.

3. What is the best thing?

Discovering new books.

4. What is the worst thing? What do you do to make it okay?

I’m an obsessive perfectionist. I put a ton of pressure on myself to make everything unrealistically perfect. What do I do to make it okay? I swallow the pills the doctor gave me. Also, I try not to take myself too seriously. I’m running a book blog, not saving the universe. I’m allowed to screw up occasionally.

5. How long does it take you to create/find pictures to use?

I fail at finding pictures more often than I succeed. How long it takes depends on how determined I am to have a picture. The tag picture on this post took about two minutes to slap together. I already had the paper texture and the vintage doggie on my computer.

6. Who is your book crush?

I don’t get book crushes. Is that weird?

7. What author would you like to have on your blog?

I’d be terrified to have a popular author on my blog. The blog would get so many views, and I’d freak out about all those strangers judging me. It would be intense. So, I guess I’d want an author who is talented but not well-known.

8. What do you wear when you write your blog posts?

I only blog naked. No, just kidding. (Or am I?) Right now, I’m wearing sweat pants and a giant hoodie.

9. How long does it take you to prepare?

Prepare what? A blog post? My FF Fridays and Sunday Posts usually take half an hour. My reviews and Top Ten Tuesdays take an hour or more. My discussions take several hours.

10. How do you feel about the book blogging community?

Obviously, I hate you all. That’s why I’ve been doing this for 3 years. No, I actually really like the book blogging community. It’s enthusiastic and supportive.

11. What do you do to get a successful blog?

I’m wondering the same thing! I’m not qualified to answer this question, but if I had to guess, I’d say be kind, be honest, leave comments, read what you love, and have a strong voice.

  5. This is such a fun tag, I love seeing answers to it! I loved your answer to the last question too- because I think you're right. You have to be kind, and be yourself. I am pretty sure that working at it plays a part, but honestly? Connections and luck. That's what I tell myself when I feel down, anyway ;) I totally feel you on the obsessive perfectionist part too. I am only obsessive about things I really care about (otherwise I am a lazy mess) but I swear I have ulcers over blogging! Because I love it and I want everything to go well, and AH, the stress! Also, never leae us! :D
