March Wrap-Up

March Snapshots

1. Bomb cyclone. March started with a snow explosion. Did anyone else get trapped in a bomb cyclone last month? I did. Luckily, it only lasted two days. There was a ton of wind and snow. The power kept going out, but books don’t require electricity, so I was fine.

Darkness and snow.

2. Another year closer to death. It was my birthday last month! I got a new wireless speaker, so I can listen to my music REALLY LOUD! I also got Chinese food and chocolate cake. I spent the day looking for a new job because I guess that’s what adults do on their birthdays? Fun times.

This is true . . .

3. We can’t even keep houseplants alive this long. My niece, Brooklyn, turned one month old in March. It’s still hard to believe there’s a baby in the house, and we’re responsible for keeping her alive, but she’s doing well. She eats, she poops, she wiggles, she tolerates having a camera in her face, she makes grocery shopping challenging because everybody wants to see her. Typical baby stuff.

She doesn't complain when we do this to her.

4. Winter is coming. Who else is excited for Game of Thrones? I’m impatiently counting down the days and avoiding all of the fan theories on the internet. I want to be completely surprised about what happens. I’m crossing my fingers that Tyrion survives to the end. Please don’t murder my favorite! The show already murdered all of my other favorites.

Wayward Googlers

Here are a few amusing Google searches that led people to Read All The Things! last month. I’m sorry to the unfortunate souls who ended up here instead of finding what they were Googling for.

“Space chick book haul.” This is . . . oddly specific.
“massive headache after rejection.” Are you writing my biography?
“How to write abandoned places.” I assume it’s a lot like writing populated places. Just without people.

Books I Read

March was not a great reading month because I spent the first half of it slogging through Little Women. I ended up finishing 8 books. I loved almost all of them.

Little Women by Louisa May Alcott
What Happened by Hillary Rodham Clinton (Audiobook)
Days of Blood & Starlight by Laini Taylor
After Zero by Christina Collins
The Science of Breakable Things by Tae Keller
Allegedly by Tiffany D. Jackson

Best Books Of March

1. After Zero by Christina Collins
2. The Science of Breakable Things by Tae Keller
3. What Happened by Hillary Rodham Clinton

What did you do in March?

    1. I’ve also Googled some weird stuff, but the wayward Googlers confuse me. What are they hoping to find with their searches?

  2. Um. I don't think I ever want to experience something called a bomb cyclone. Thanks you but no. The new speaker sounds awesome... how does the really loud music work with Brooklyn? LOL

    1. Brooklyn doesn’t seem to mind the music. She sleeps through everything. She even sleeps through the dog barking and me crushing ice.

    1. I’ll read the theories after the show ends and see how many are wrong. I hope the show surprises everybody.

  5. I would gladly take all that snow! Here in hell, we don't get any and if we do it's gone in one day because the sun is evil. Yes! Game of Thrones is coming back and I can't wait! Also, Happy Belated Birthday!

    1. The snow was probably good for us. We seem to get droughts and water restrictions every summer.

  6. You have my download finger itching for After Zero. I have it to download on EW, but I am trying to show some restraint. Maybe you only read 8 books, but I was so happy to see so many positive reviews from you. It's awesome that you found books you enjoyed. The baby is precious and gold star for keeping her alive. I am very proud of you. Hope you like When You Read Me. It had me all sorts of nostalgic, when I read it.

  7. I haven't been keeping up with the Games of Thrones show, but Tyrion has always been my favorite character in the books. We barely got any snow this year!

    1. I have to get back to reading the books. I read the first 3 and then quit because they’re too big!

  8. One birthday I was sick as a dog but had to get dressed up and go on a 2nd or 3rd panel interview for a job. (Didn't get it).

OMG that baby is the cutest!

I can't wait for GOT and agree with you about Tyrion. For the record I am not a fan of Jon Snow. Like at all.

    1. Yeah, being an adult sucks. Our birthdays are stressful or boring! I like Jon Snow, but he’s definitely not my favorite character. There are so many other characters who are more interesting than him.

  9. How random are those google searches? LOL. I felt sorry for every one in that bomb cyclone. Glad you made it through safe.

  11. Aww, Brooklyn is absolutely lovely. I can't wait to have a baby in the house one day!

I'm traumatised by what a bomb cyclone is. Some sort of snow downpour? I've never heard of the term before. Actually, I've never seen snow before. I'm going to have to Google because I'm absolutely fascinated now. Happy belated birthday! Hope this month brings lots of wonderful new reads.

    1. This bomb cyclone was like a blizzard with high wind. I think the wind probably did more damage than the snow.

  12. A belated Happy Birthday Tooo Yooou!! Chinese and chocolate cake sounds fab even if job searching probably wasn't. Sorry to learn Little Women wasn't a great book for you :-/

  13. I am extremely excited for GoT!
We got no snow... We've had so little snow this year that I want to throw a toddler tantrum because it's not fair! lol

    1. I like snow, but I live in a place where it snows from October to May, so I’m a little tired of it. I’m ready for spring!

  14. Glad you made it through the snow (with books in hand). And good for you guys for keeping the baby alive longer than the house plants. I can't keep a plant alive either, but my oldest is now 16, so hopefully you'll be okay. :-)

  17. Your wrap ups are my favorites. Today is actually my birthday and here I am at work being an adult. Yay for baby Brooklyn being a month old and still alive. Good job everyone! I can't keep plants alive at all. In fact, my mother in law and I just killed a tree so that should tell you something. But my kids are still alive so that's good?

  18. I am very glad to hear the baby is alive and doing well at the one month mark, and here is to many many MANY more months of the same :D I also hope you enjoy making everyone deaf as you listen to your music as loud as you possibly can! Sounds like a good month to me ;)

  19. Brooklyn is so cute! 👶✨

Ugh about the bomb cyclone. We usually get hit hard somewhere in the first two weeks of March,,but we were lucky this year and got only a couple of inches. I hope your flooding recedes quickly. 🌞

Happy birthday again, and good luck with your job hunt. 👍✨

  20. Bomb Cyclones blew through here too. We thankfully didn't lose power this time, but like you said, books don't require electricity anyway. I will have a niece born any day now whose name is Brooklyn. Is this a new popular name? I have to read your favorite March books!
