The Sunday Post #182

What happens on the blog stays on the blog.

The Sunday Post is hosted by The Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to recap the past week, talk about next week, and share news. It’s Monday, What Are You Reading? is hosted by Book Date. I get to tell you what I’ve read recently.

On The Blog Last Week

On The Blog This Week

  • On Tuesday I show you some books I failed to read last year.
  • On Thursday we figure out if I kept my 2018 New Year’s resolutions.

In My Reading Life

I’m still reading and judging books for the Cybils Award. I’ll tell you what I think of them after we choose a winner. Last week, I finished The Orphan Band of Springdale by Anne Nesbet, The Miscalculations of Lightning Girl by Stacy McAnulty, and Front Desk by Kelly Yang. Right now, I’m reading Skylark and Wallcreeper by Anne O’Brien Carelli.

In My Internet Stalking Life

In The Rest Of My Life

Five things that made me happy last week:

  1. I went to an ultrasound with my sister and saw her baby. It’s due in less than a month.
  2. Judging the Cybils Award has been fun. I’ve discovered a few excellent books that I knew nothing about.
  3. I did pretty well with exercise. Running is still challenging because the snow is deep and the sidewalks are icy.
  4. I think my caffeine withdrawals are over. I don’t feel terrible anymore!
  5. Who’s watching Project Blue Book? It’s about aliens. I watched the first two episodes, and I am intrigued. Aidan Gillen (who played Littlefinger in Game of Thrones) is in it.

Can I Get A Connection?

Take care of yourselves and be kind to each other! See you around the blogosphere!

  1. Love the cover of The Orphan Band of Springdale. I'll have to look that one up. Aidan Gillen plays such an excellent baddie. I wouldn't know what to do if I ever saw him play a good guy.

    1. He is excellent at playing bad guys. I keep waiting for his character to do something awful on Project Blue Book, but that hasn’t happened yet.

  2. Well hooray for caffeine withdrawals being over! I've never heard of Project Blue Book (though it did immediately make me think of college...), but it looks pretty neat. The Orphan Band of Springdale by Anne Nesbet seems like a really cute one. Have a great week!

    1. Haha, Project Blue Book does sound like a school thing. It was a real-life secret government project. I guess they had to choose a boring name so no one would start snooping around.

  3. Yeay on getting passed the caffeine withdrawal!
How exciting on seeing the baby! That's always fun. Is this your first niece/nephew? Or are you a veteran aunt? :)

  4. Very exciting about the baby!
My goal is to start walking again when the air doesn't hurt my face. I actually miss the quiet from doing a nice walk.
Caffeine Withdrawals are very hard but I am glad you are passed them. That is one thing I am not sure I would be able to do. I love my coffee, even if it is just one or two a day.

Have a great week, AJ! Happy Reading! xx

  6. Great news here! A baby (I didn't know she was pregnant LOL) your running still going (in the snow ..how lucky compared to our rainy days!) and no more caffeine withdrawal! I swear with the coffee machine at work being out of order most of the time i'll soon join you! Have a wonderful Sunday.

    1. I think this is the first time I’ve talked about the baby on the blog. I don’t usually mention my family or friends. I hope the coffee machine gets fixed! Caffeine headaches are really unpleasant.

  7. Great job kicking the caffeine. Aww, little baby. :)

  8. Did I know you were a Cybils judge? I bet that happened during my hiatus, and I missed it. For middle grade--which means I need all your recommendations for my classroom as soon as the judging is done! I somewhat unwisely read all the lighter/shorter nonfiction books first and now have to plow through some pretty serious looking tomes.

I have been an aunt since 1985, and it is a JOY. Have fun with that!

The header on this post makes me laugh.

    Have a great week!

    1. Yep! I’m a Cybils judge. This is my first time doing it. Good luck with your reading! I only have 2 Cybils books left to read, but one of them is chunky.

  9. Congratulations to your sister and you Auntie!! Hope all is well with them. I haven't watched it and I have never seen Game of Thrones so I have no idea who that actor is. Guess I should get with the times? I hope you have a wonderful week!

  12. Congratulations on your sister's baby! I hope she has a safe delivery. The Cybil awards sound awesome and I can't wait to hear about all the books you've read. Do you think it'll be hard to determine the winner? Yay! for kicking the caffeine withdrawals. I'm still here drinking my Dr.Pepper but I'm cutting back or at least trying to.

I hope you have a wonderful week!

  14. Yeah for your caffeine withdrawal being over, and you kept yourself out of prison. *applause, applause* You are stronger than me, my friend. Sonograms are amazing. Was it one of those creepy 3D ones? We didn't have that back when I was with child. You are reading a lot of great MG books. I adored Lightning Girl and really wanted to read the other two. Glad you are enjoying the Cybils.

  15. It has to be so hard to read and judge those books. I have done some short story contests as a judge and it is horrible if you don't like them. I want to like them all, just as I want to like all the books I read. I hate to give anything a "low score"

Good work on the caffeine and exercise. I wrecked my back and so I am off my routine for a bit. Here's to a better week ahead. Anne - Books of My Heart
