The Sunday
Post is hosted by The Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a
chance to recap the past week, talk about next week, and share news. It’s
Monday, What Are You Reading? is hosted by Book Date. I get to tell you what I’ve read
recently.
On The Blog Last Week
- On Tuesday I told you what makes me buy a book.
- On Thursday I wrapped up March.
- On Saturday I reviewed two adult books.
On The Blog This Week
- On Tuesday I tell you about the things I’ve done for the love of books.
- On Saturday I review something. I’m not sure what yet.
In My Reading Life
Last
week, I finished Allegedly by Tiffany D. Jackson. This book is twisted,
guys. It’s about a teenager who (allegedly) murdered a baby. The middle is too
slow for me, but mostly I liked it. The end is nuts.
Then I
listened to A Single Shard by Linda
Sue Park. Unpopular opinion time: I thought it was kind of boring and
predictable. It’s about a Korean boy who’s obsessed with learning how to make
pots. I always struggle with books that focus on art. I had a hard time making
myself care about pottery.
Then I
read When You Reach Me by Rebecca
Stead. I loved it! For most of the book, I was confused about where the story
was going, but I got it in the end. Everything comes together perfectly. It's about a young girl who finds notes from the future.
Right
now, I’m reading Dreams of Gods &
Monsters by Laini Taylor. It’s okay so far. This novel is a beast, so I’m
going to be reading it for a while.
In The Rest Of My Life
Five
things that made me happy last week:
- Dewey’s Readathon! I hope I got a lot of reading done. I’m writing this post on Friday, so nobody knows what the future holds.
- I applied for one of my dream jobs. There’s probably a 0% chance that they’ll hire me, but at least I got to spend 3 thrilling days filling out the paperwork. Everybody loves paperwork, right?
- I saw two movies: Brexit: The Uncivil War and The Meg. Neither of them are movies I’d watch again, but they entertained me for a while.
- Game of Thrones stuff
is EVERYWHERE. The new season is so close, yet so far away. I’m dying from
impatience.
- My giveaway is over! You don’t have to listen to me yammer on about it anymore! There were 683 entries, and the winner chose Caraval by Stephanie Garber. Thanks to everybody who entered!
I’m Somewhat Friendly!
Take care of yourselves and be kind to each other! See you around
the blogosphere!
I hope you can get that job. Those three days filling paperwork will be worth it. *fingers crossed*
ReplyDeleteHappy readings! ;)

Thanks!

ReplyDeleteThanks! I hope so!
DeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
Good luck with the job! I've heard mixed things about The Meg.
ReplyDeleteKrystianna @ Downright Dystopian
The Meg was entertaining, but it’s very similar to every other monster movie I’ve seen.
DeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
I hope that the job comes through for you. I got to work at my dream job and I have high hopes for you.
ReplyDeleteI didn't see your post about the readathon. Maybe you read and didn't post here?
I'd like to invite you to share your post each week at Sunday Salon and join in the conversations there, too. I've just taken over this meme and I hope to use it to encourage more book talk in the world. The linky will be posted each Saturday on my blog and on Facebook. I'll definitely keep my fingers crossed on the job front. You never know--you might be exactly who they are looking for! Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteNatflix&Books
I hope so! I think I’d really like this job.
DeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
Good luck with the dream job—I hope you get it!
ReplyDeleteAllegedly is definitely not for me, but I'm glad you enjoyed it. And I hope Dewey went really well!
Dewey didn’t go as well as I hoped, but I did read about 200 pages.
DeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
Ooh, Allegedly looks like a tempting read. Enjoy your week, and thanks for sharing. Here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES
ReplyDeleteOther than the saggy middle, Allegedly was pretty good.
DeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
I'll be reading Allegedly soon and I've heard so many great things about it. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteCheck out my Friday post and my current giveaway
How fun to participate in a readathon! Good Luck on getting your dream job 😊. Happy Reading!
ReplyDeleteLindy@ A Bookish Escape
Thanks! The readathon was a lot more fun than the job applications.
DeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
Well I hope you get the dream job. If not, maybe you could work in some government position or doing taxes as there is a HUGE amount of paperwork. LOL
ReplyDeleteI hope you find some great reads and have a wonderful week!
Anne - Books of My Heart Here is my Sunday Post
Haha, I’m so bad at math. I have to get someone else to do my own taxes.
DeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
I'm really hoping you at least get an interview at your dream job, how exciting!!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I hope you read a TON. I read nothing.
Thanks! I didn’t read a ton, but I had fun.
DeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
The amount of paper needed to even be able to apply for some jobs is crazy. I hope you get an interview. Everyone deserves their dream job. I just finished season 7 of Game of Thrones and I am more than ready to see the new season. I am glad that I timed everything so that I didn't have long to wait to see more. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI recently finished rewatching all of the seasons, so I’m ready for the last one. Bring it on!
DeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
Allegedly sounds bonkers. Which immediately makes me interested in it! And notes f/ the future- how cool (and freaky) would THAT be? Those both sound like very interesting stories!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the dream job!!!
They both had excellent plot twists.
DeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
I'm planning a review for this Tuesday because I drew a total blank for the TTT prompt. Can't wait to see yours. :)
ReplyDeleteI almost skipped this week’s TTT because I also blanked. Hopefully I came up with a few interesting ones.
DeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
The first step to getting that dream job is applying for it!
ReplyDeleteYep! Now I hope they give it to me.
DeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
Good luck on landing the new job. Mine was an orientation day, and three days of paperwork and computer training. Now I'm on the job and learning how everything works. I can't wait until I'm not so nervous. LOL
ReplyDeleteMy Sunday Post
I was terrified to apply for the job. I think I’m going to be terrified for every step of the process.
DeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
I am crossing my fingers and my toes for you. I totally want you to get that dream job. Glad you loved When You Reach Me. I was a fan of that book, and I loved the nod to A Wrinkle in Time. Allegedly was SO twisted, and I loved that I struggled distinguishing between the truth and the lies. So well done.
ReplyDeleteThanks! Yeah, I had a pretty good reading week with twisty books.
DeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
I hope the readathon went well!! I've never read Allegedly, but I always meant to.
ReplyDelete-Lauren

The readathon went okay. I was really distracted for most of it.
DeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
I loved When You Reach Me. Allegedly is an odd book. My weekly updates
ReplyDeleteI’m glad you loved it too!
DeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
One of these days I’ll carve out some time to participate in a Readathon. I hope you achieved your goal.
ReplyDeleteHave a great reading week :)
Shelleyrae @ Book’d Out-
Readathons tend to sneak up on me. If I paid more attention, I could probably participate in more of them.
DeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
I'm also trying to find my dream job! I hope to participate in the readathon!
ReplyDeleteHere’s my Sunday Post!
Ronyell @ Rabbit Ears Book Blog
Good luck with finding that job!
DeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
Good luck with dream job! You never know, you might be their dream employee!
ReplyDeleteI actually really enjoyed The Meg and I imagine I'll watch it plenty times. I'm such a shark fan! Things like art and poetry don't interests me either so I tend to stay away from those! I'm just hoping that the final season of Game of Thrones isn't a total letdown. I felt season seven was too rushed with not enough of the side characters I love.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I don’t like that GOT shortened the seasons. They should all have 10 episodes!
DeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
Glad you had a good Readathon! Good luck on the job.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your dream job - you never know. And I can't wait for GoT either. I need it NOW!
ReplyDeleteYeah, the wait for GOT has been too long. We’ve been waiting for literal YEARS.
DeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
Oh, I'll be praying that dream job comes through. You never know!
ReplyDeleteNicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction
Thank you!
DeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
I'm definitely with you on books that include poetry or are even written with rather poetic prose. I tend to run the other way! When You Reach Me sounds great.
ReplyDeleteGood luck on the dream job!
It was really good. I didn’t predict the twist at the end, but it made perfect sense.
DeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
Glad you enjoyed the paperwork! Crossing my fingers that you get the job!!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
Good luck getting the dream job. Come see my week here. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteI've heard lots of mixed opinions on Allegedly. I'm sorry the middle was so slow! Good luck with the readathon and the job! I'm SO EXCITED for Game of Thrones!
ReplyDeleteI can see why reviews of Allegedly would be mixed. It’s slow, and a lot of weird stuff happens.
DeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
The Meg is something I wouldn't watch again either, but it was fun at the time. Glad you found it entertaining too.
ReplyDeleteLaini Taylor's writing to me is a bit overly descriptive, slowing down the plot. Hope your experience with her improves as you go. :)
I’m struggling with the Laini Taylor book I’m reading right now. I think the writing sometimes makes it hard to picture the action.
DeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
Good luck on the job! Hope this is a great week for you!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
Paperwork is something you can chase me with *lol*. Good luck on the job. I know how it is when you apply for a new one. Currently I am on the hunt for one myself. Thanks for sharing your books with us. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteFingers crossed about the job! <3 I hope you will have a lovely week! <3
ReplyDeleteGood luck on the job hunt! I'm getting ready to start looking for a new job. I hope you have a wonderful week.
ReplyDeleteTina @ As Told By Tina
Allegedly is on my TBR AJ! And let's hiope that you'll get your dream job!
ReplyDeleteI hope you killed it on reading for Dewey! I have always wanted to do Dewey but can never quite get it to work out. Good luck on the job hunt and I hope you're having a fantastic week!
ReplyDeleteI'm super impatient about GoT too. Just 4 more days!
ReplyDeleteGood luck applying for your dream job!
I loved When You Reach Me, too! I want to read it again so I can pick up on some of the foreshadowing I know I missed the first time around. 👍✨
ReplyDeleteI hope you love the Game of Thrones opener tonight! 🌞
