The Sunday Post #149

You're going to see this kid in your nightmares tonight. Sorry 'bout that.

The Sunday Post is hosted by The Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to recap the past week, talk about next week, and share news. It’s Monday, What Are You Reading? is hosted by Book Date. I get to tell you what I’ve read recently.

Public Service Announcement

This year is an election year in the US, which means that irritating political campaign ads are starting to appear everywhere. I banned all political ads from Read All The Things! but I caught one on the blog last week. I guess they can sometimes sneak through my fortifications.

I'm betting that you guys don’t want Donald Trump leering at you while you read a book review. If you see any politicians on the blog, please let me know so that I can evict them. We get enough political nonsense in the rest of our lives. We don’t need it here, too.

Also, please register to vote! (Just thought I’d throw that in there. It’s important.)

On The Blog Last Week

On The Blog This Week

  • On Tuesday I mini review A Head Full Of Ghosts and Grief Is The Thing With Feathers.
  • On Thursday I wrap up May.
  • On Saturday there’s a book haul.

In My Reading Life

Last week, I finished Blood Red, Snow White by Marcus Sedgwick. I love Russian history, but this isn’t my favorite Sedgwick book. I thought it covered too much time in too few pages. After I finished that book, I read nearly half of A Storm of Swords by George R.R. Martin. It’s brilliant in every way. In addition to A Storm of Swords, I’m reading A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman. I don’t have any complaints about that one so far.

In My Internet Stalking Life

  • I was a terrible blog hopper last week. I pretty much only read May wrap-up posts. Oops. If you like wrap ups, check out the linkup at Feed Your Fiction Addiction.

In The Rest Of My Life

Five things that made me happy last week:

1. Taking lots of photos for my poor, neglected Instagram account. I’m trying to post a photo every day in June. We’ll see if that actually happens.

2. I cut 6 inches off my hair. It’s still pretty long, but hopefully it won’t feel like a blanket on my head all summer.

3. I’m doing research for a new series/feature/thing on the blog. It’s nothing wildly impressive, but I’m enjoying the research. If you like this post or this post, you’ll like the new series. I don’t know when it will start. Maybe the end of this month?

4. Creepy woman does a magic trick. (Simon Cowell disapproves.)

Stalk Me Everywhere

Take care of yourselves and be kind to each other! See you around the blogosphere!

  1. Looking forward to your new feature! I like having my blanket of hair in the winter, but yeah, come summertime, that needs to go.

  2. I saw the creepy girl and it was hilarious when he hit the buzzer and everyone jumped even the girl. I think she is interesting but needs to speed it up just a little.

Sorry Blood Red, Snow White wasn't what you hopped, I had my eye on that for a while but I wasn't sure, think the pretty cover was getting me.

Have a great week AJ! Happy Reading!

  4. lol about that Sunday Post image...It's a little creepy and I like it. I'm curious about Grief Is The Thing With Feathers, hope is the thing with feathers is a favorite poem.
Enjoy your week, I am a terrible blog hopper always lol. Unless it's the weekend or I have days off work, I can't manage to find the time.

    1. I wasn’t sure if I should use that image, but it was too weird to pass up. I’m still wondering where the kid’s body is. He seems to be just head and arms.

  5. I like the Sunday Post image though he is a little terrifying! The double proposal is so cute! I always have my hair thinned and trimmed a bit during the summer and I don't know what I would do without ponytail holders! Have a great week!

  6. The great summer hair chop is always such a relief! And as a person who works on campaigns sometimes, sorry about all the ads :(

    1. Political ads annoy me because there are so many of them! I’ve been avoiding Facebook because it’s currently covered in them.

  7. Looking forward to your new series! I am planning to cut some of my hair as well, long hair can be so much trouble in the summer. I've neglected my Instagram as well, I hope to post more in June, but I definitely won't have the time to post every day.

    Have a wonderful week!

  9. That's a lot of hair, but I do know the feeling of having long hair in the summer. Mine is more thick than long and feels like a blanket. I usually end up getting it cut short. So far, I haven't done anything :) Hope you have a great week!

  10. I saw that double proposal on the news earlier this week—TOO perfect! ♥ Good luck with the Instagram challenge this month :)

  11. I like that you retail therapy. Brave of you to chop off 6". My girls are all about the long hair and I let them but tell them twice a year now they have to get their hair trimmed - before CNY and in July. I'm about short hair, layers, and maybe an undercut.

    1. I like short hair. I’d love to cut mine super short, but I’d look weird.

  31. Ugh, I feel your pain re: the hair blanket! I just want to cut mine off to my chin or something but I'm getting married in December and need to keep some length to it until I decide what I'm doing with it for the wedding. :/
    Have a good week!

  32. Oh my goodness 6" is a lot! I've contemplated cutting more of mine off but I love the ease of being able to throw my hair into a ponytail at the beach or pool, ha, I'm lazy! And I love the double proposal! One of my cousins shared it on Facebook and I found myself laughing with tears in my eyes, what a beautiful moment! ♥

  34. I didn't realize it was election year in the US this year. I usually see a lot about that on social media, but haven't seen as much of that this year so far. I block all ads so I rarely see them.

I hope you can keep up with making pictures for your Instagram. I always wear my long hair in a braid, which really helps making me feel cooler as that way it's not in my neck.

I am curious to see what new feature you're planning for your blog!
