You're going to see this kid in your nightmares tonight. Sorry 'bout that. |
The Sunday
Post is hosted by The Caffeinated Book
Reviewer. It’s a chance to recap
the past week, talk about next week, and share news. It’s Monday, What Are You
Reading? is hosted by Book Date. I get to tell you what I’ve
read recently.
Public Service Announcement
This year is an election year
in the US, which means that irritating political campaign ads are starting to
appear everywhere. I banned all political ads from Read All The Things! but I caught one on the blog last week. I
guess they can sometimes sneak through my fortifications.
I'm betting that you guys don’t
want Donald Trump leering at you while you read a book review. If you see
any politicians on the blog, please let me know so that I can evict them. We
get enough political nonsense in the rest of our lives. We don’t need it here,
too.
Also, please register to vote!
(Just thought I’d throw that in there. It’s important.)
On The Blog Last Week
- On Tuesday I discussed places I’d never want to live, but would want to read about.
- On Thursday I reviewed A Clash of Kings by George R.R. Martin and talked about writing multiple POVs.
- On Saturday there was some retail therapy.
On The Blog This Week
- On Tuesday I mini review A Head Full Of Ghosts and Grief Is The Thing With Feathers.
- On Thursday I wrap up May.
- On Saturday there’s a book haul.
In My Reading Life
Last
week, I finished Blood Red, Snow White by Marcus Sedgwick.
I love Russian history, but this isn’t my favorite Sedgwick book. I thought it
covered too much time in too few pages. After I finished that book, I read
nearly half of A Storm of Swords by George R.R. Martin. It’s brilliant in
every way. In addition to A Storm of Swords, I’m reading A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman. I
don’t have any complaints about that one so far.
In My Internet Stalking Life
- I was a terrible blog hopper last week. I pretty much only read May wrap-up posts. Oops. If you like wrap ups, check out the linkup at Feed Your Fiction Addiction.
In The Rest Of My Life
Five
things that made me happy last week:
1. Taking
lots of photos for my poor, neglected Instagram account. I’m trying to post a
photo every day in June. We’ll see if that actually happens.
2. I cut 6
inches off my hair. It’s still pretty long, but hopefully it won’t feel like a
blanket on my head all summer.
3. I’m doing
research for a new series/feature/thing on the blog. It’s nothing wildly impressive, but I’m
enjoying the research. If you like this post or this post, you’ll like the new
series. I don’t know when it will start. Maybe the end of this month?
4. Creepy woman does a magic trick. (Simon Cowell disapproves.)
Stalk Me Everywhere
Take
care of yourselves and be kind to each other! See you around the blogosphere!
Looking forward to your new feature! I like having my blanket of hair in the winter, but yeah, come summertime, that needs to go.
ReplyDeleteNobody likes neck sweat. :) The long hair needed to go.

I saw the creepy girl and it was hilarious when he hit the buzzer and everyone jumped even the girl. I think she is interesting but needs to speed it up just a little.
ReplyDeleteSorry Blood Red, Snow White wasn't what you hopped, I had my eye on that for a while but I wasn't sure, think the pretty cover was getting me.
Have a great week AJ! Happy Reading!
I laughed when he hit the buzzer. I agree, she needs to speed up.
DeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
Loved that double proposal! Have a good week.
ReplyDeletelol about that Sunday Post image...It's a little creepy and I like it. I'm curious about Grief Is The Thing With Feathers, hope is the thing with feathers is a favorite poem.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your week, I am a terrible blog hopper always lol. Unless it's the weekend or I have days off work, I can't manage to find the time.
I wasn’t sure if I should use that image, but it was too weird to pass up. I’m still wondering where the kid’s body is. He seems to be just head and arms.
DeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
I like the Sunday Post image though he is a little terrifying! The double proposal is so cute! I always have my hair thinned and trimmed a bit during the summer and I don't know what I would do without ponytail holders! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteHe is a creepy kid. Good thing he has a cake to distract him.
DeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
The great summer hair chop is always such a relief! And as a person who works on campaigns sometimes, sorry about all the ads :(
ReplyDeletePolitical ads annoy me because there are so many of them! I’ve been avoiding Facebook because it’s currently covered in them.
DeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
Looking forward to your new series! I am planning to cut some of my hair as well, long hair can be so much trouble in the summer. I've neglected my Instagram as well, I hope to post more in June, but I definitely won't have the time to post every day.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week!
I’m not sure if I’ll be able to post every day, but I’m going to try. Currently, the Instagram app is broken for Android phones, so that’s bad for my plan.
DeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
Hahaha thanks for chasing the political ads! And good luck with your posting!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I’m waving my pitchfork and chasing all the politicians off my blog.
DeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
That's a lot of hair, but I do know the feeling of having long hair in the summer. Mine is more thick than long and feels like a blanket. I usually end up getting it cut short. So far, I haven't done anything :) Hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteLong hair in summer is awful. I don’t like neck sweat!
DeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
I saw that double proposal on the news earlier this week—TOO perfect! ♥ Good luck with the Instagram challenge this month :)
ReplyDeleteI like that you retail therapy. Brave of you to chop off 6". My girls are all about the long hair and I let them but tell them twice a year now they have to get their hair trimmed - before CNY and in July. I'm about short hair, layers, and maybe an undercut.
ReplyDeleteI like short hair. I’d love to cut mine super short, but I’d look weird.
DeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
Oh, I saw that double proposal too, and I absolutely adored it! I never thought about the possibility of political ads showing up on blogs. I guess they would be hard to avoid completely.
ReplyDeleteNicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction
I’ve seen political ads on a few blogs this week. I’d rather not have them on my blog. They’re annoying.
DeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
I saw that proposal video somewhere this past week, pretty awesome. :) And wow half of Storm of swords already? Dang. Love that book though.
ReplyDeleteI love Storm of Swords so far. I just want to sit around and read it instead of doing normal human stuff.
DeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
Aw that proposal was so adorable and amazing!
ReplyDeleteBest of luck with your IG challenge and looking forward to your new series. Can't wait to see them. Hope you have a great week ahead. 💋 xoxo
Part thriller, part superhero fantasy, the Renegades
Yikes! I also hate those political ads! They are always crowding my blog! Hope you have a wonderful week!
ReplyDeleteHere’s my Sunday Post!
Ronyell @ Rabbit Ears Book Blog
If you’re using AdSense to run your ads, you can ban them in your account. I’ve banned a lot of different ads from my blog.
DeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
Loved the double proposal! I wish I could read the Game of Thrones books for the first time again. Fun.
ReplyDeleteI’m loving the GoT books, which is weird because I don’t usually like fantasy.
DeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
wow you cut 6 inches and still long?? pretty! My Instagram account has been neglected for months now! I'm hoping to have some time during the summer to take some pics. I like pics at the beach :)
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see your new feature!
And.. and yes it is important we all vote! and THANK YOU for banning all political ads! xoxo
This was my first haircut in nearly 2 years, so it was REALLY long. I like beach photos, too. We don’t have beaches around here, so I have to live vicariously through other people.
DeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
lol I have not seen any ads on your site XD maybe I am just missing them. Aww you have long hair <3 serious envy over here I cannot get my hair to grow.
ReplyDeleteMy hair doesn’t grow very quickly, either. It’s dry and thin and tends to break.
DeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
Good luck at banning political statements... if you figure out how to do it on facebook, can you let me know?
ReplyDeleteI wish I knew how to do it on Facebook. Pretty much every ad on my Facebook page right now is political.
DeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
You are certainly reading an eclectic mix right now. I am glad you are banning political ads. They are as ubiquitous as Christmas music that starts at Halloween. Come see my week here. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteYES! There are so many ads! I just want to be left alone.
DeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
Lol @ the Donald Trump ad! Please no!! I have Blood Red Snow White, but I still haven't read it. I'd be interested to see what you thought!
ReplyDeleteI didn’t love Blood Red Snow White. It moves very fast and glosses over some important historical stuff. Midwinterblood is still my favorite Sedgwick book.
DeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
I've never run ads on my site. Given the current state of things, I'm glad I don't. My weekly update
ReplyDeleteSometimes the ads are way more trouble than they’re worth.
DeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
Yay for A Storm of Swords! I realized the other day that I've made like 6 Instagram posts all year, lol. I'm trying a book photo challenge for June to try and be more consistent about posting.
ReplyDeleteGood luck! I barely posted on Instagram at all in April and May. I’m hoping to make up for it this month.
DeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
Sounds like a really great week! Hope the new meme post works out well! Thanks for stopping by! Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see your new blog feature and yes, definitely not interested in having Trump anywhere in the vicinity while I'm trying to read and enjoy blog posts, lol.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I figured that having Trump’s giant head in my blog’s sidebar would be a bit of a turnoff.
DeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
No, definitely don't want Donald Trump leering at me while I'm reading posts. =P I've been neglecting my Instagram account too. I need to find time to take new photos (and the weather needs to improve because it has been too dark).
ReplyDeleteWishes of a great week.
Tânia @MyLovelySecret
I need to get better at finding time during the day to take Instagram photos. Whenever I’m ready to take pictures, it’s dark outside.
DeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
Summer is definitely the time for rocking a shorter hairstyle - did the same myself a few weeks ago. Also, I'm very intrigued by this new blog series!
ReplyDeleteHappy reading & a lovely week to you!
Yes! I don’t like long hair in summer. It’s too hot for that.
DeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
Yep, that kid is almost as scary as clowns. Look at you with a new feature. I can't wait to see it. I am always trying to think of things, but I am just not that original.
ReplyDeleteI love your idea of the things that made you happy last week! I don't like political ads either. Hopefully none of those will pop up on my site. Have a wonderful week! Thanks for stopping by!
ReplyDeleteTressa @ Wishful Endings
I saw that double proposal too on Facebook and it was just adorable. :) I cut all my hair off, pretty much. It feels great to have a pixie cut again.
ReplyDeleteUgh, I feel your pain re: the hair blanket! I just want to cut mine off to my chin or something but I'm getting married in December and need to keep some length to it until I decide what I'm doing with it for the wedding. :/
ReplyDeleteHave a good week!
Oh my goodness 6" is a lot! I've contemplated cutting more of mine off but I love the ease of being able to throw my hair into a ponytail at the beach or pool, ha, I'm lazy! And I love the double proposal! One of my cousins shared it on Facebook and I found myself laughing with tears in my eyes, what a beautiful moment! ♥
ReplyDeleteJen @ Star-Crossed Book Blog
Totally there on that summer hair chop. It's way too hot for super long hair. Mine is about to meet the same fate. lol
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize it was election year in the US this year. I usually see a lot about that on social media, but haven't seen as much of that this year so far. I block all ads so I rarely see them.
ReplyDeleteI hope you can keep up with making pictures for your Instagram. I always wear my long hair in a braid, which really helps making me feel cooler as that way it's not in my neck.
I am curious to see what new feature you're planning for your blog!
