The Sunday Post #86

The Sunday Post is hosted by The Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to recap the past week, talk about next week, and share news. It’s Monday, What Are You Reading? is hosted by Book Date. I get to tell you what I’ve read recently.

On The Blog Last Week

On The Blog This Week

  • On Monday I review Angel Catbird by Margaret Atwood & Johnnie Christmas.
  • On Wednesday I review Sex with Kings: 500 Years of Adultery, Power, Rivalry, and Revenge by Eleanor Herman.
  • On Thursday I wrap up February.

In My Reading Life

Last week, I read The Book of Strange New Things by Michel Faber and James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl. I’m currently reading Pygmy by Chuck Palahniuk.

In The Rest Of My Life

Five things that made me happy last week:

  1. Playing with kittens. They had horrible sharp teeth, and they bit me a lot, but YOLO, right? (YOLO probably wasn’t intended to be applied to kittens. I’ve just always wanted to say YOLO about something.)
  2. Girl Scout cookies. I’m on a diet, but YOLO, right? (YOLO probably also doesn’t apply to cookies.)
  3. I joined a writing workshop. Now I need to write stuff.
  4. I went to several bookstores, and I didn’t buy any books! Winning at self-control.
  5. NASA discovered seven new planets.

Take care of yourselves and be kind to each other! See you around the blogosphere!

  1. I didn't get any girls scout cookies this year and now I am mad because I love them. I was trying to be healthy but whatever. Have a great week!

    1. They’re so good! They only come once a year, so I have to get them while I can.

  2. I was quite happily reading your list and chuckling at YOLO and you drop in at the end that there are SEVEN more planets?! Woah! Just watched the video, how exciting!

  3. I don't believe I've ever read James and the Giant Peach. I loved Charlie and the Chocolate Factory as a kid. I should read more of his books.

How can anyone say no to Girl Scout cookies? I am trying to eat healthier too but I plan to pick up a package of cookies to try if I can find the ones I want. I would think playing with kittens would be a good stress reliever but maybe not in that situation if they are biting you! :)

Good for you for not buying any books. I've done that a few times myself but it is so tempting. I usually create a list of what I want and then get them from the library if I can.

Hope you have a great week!

  4. I loved James and the Giant Peach though I do have issues with giant mutant creepy bugs! I'm not a cat fan...I hate 'em! We get nothing but trouble from the stupid furballs...

    1. I’m not a cat fan, either. I don’t think I’d want to own one, but I don’t mind playing with them.

  7. Kitten teeth are like sharp little razors!! But kittens are so darn adorbs it makes it ok. Lol.

I read that about the 7 new planets - amazing what is out there that is still being discovered, and what is still a mystery.

  8. I'm curious why you went to several bookstores without buying any books! Were you just going on a windowshopping adventure? hah I haven't bought any new books in a while or had a proper bookhaul. I finally realized I had too many books i haven't read and I'm not reading them fast enough to justify buying more. But I"m sure this phase will pass. :p

    1. I was window-shopping, and there were other things at the stores that I needed. I’ve traded for some books this year, but I haven’t bought any new ones. There are way too many unread books sitting around here.

  9. I loved your The Vegetarian review, and quite intrigued by upcoming review of Sex with Kings. I guess it should be a non-fiction book?

    1. Yep, Sex with Kings is nonfiction. I own Sex with Queens, too, but I haven’t read it yet.

    1. Yes! One of the planets should just be for bookworms. That would be awesome.

  13. Oh my gosh...the Girl Scout cookies are killing me. I bought so many because I wanted to support these kids but I am the only one in my house who isn't allergic to them. I am going to gain 50 pounds before they are gone.
