This Week’s Question: Have you come up with any special memes or features on your blog that
you'd like people to visit more?
Answer:
No. There are so many memes and features in the blogosphere that I’ve never
felt the need to create my own. I just enjoy participating in everybody else’s.
I do wish that more people read book review posts. I
know that reviews are tricky because not every book appeals to every reader,
but my review posts get way fewer views than any of my other posts. I’ve heard
that this is pretty common among book blogs. It sucks because writing reviews
takes a lot more time and effort than writing meme posts. I’ve been trying to
read and comment on other bloggers’ reviews, but it’s making me buy more books.
I keep finding interesting things on other people’s blogs. You guys are a bad
influence. Maybe that’s why nobody reads book reviews. It starts to get
expensive.

I completely agree with this post! Reviews take so much more effort, and I get so few views compared to any meme posts. I've been trying to comment more on book reviews too, so hopefully it will make a difference!

I was on another blog a few moments ago and we were talking about the same... that we wished people paid more attention to the reviews since that is what our blogs are about... the books themselves, and their authors. Great point!

It's hard to come up with special features on the blog. I really wish more people read reviews on blogs too! All of us book bloggers started our blogs for the purpose of sharing our thoughts on books and it's disheartening when people don't read them. I hope you have a great week, I'm an old follower.

I wish more people would read and comment on reviews as well. Nice to meet you through this meme!
ReplyDeleteIt depends on the books I review, because luckily some do get quite a few comments, but you're right, people seem to be better at visiting meme posts. That's why mine has to do with books I've just read - even if it's about food or drinks mentioned :)

I, myself, concentrate more on reviews. That's what I read book blogs for. To learn about new books and make decisions for my teen readers. My blog is mostly reviews too. I know I don't comment enough, but I read them. Old follower. Here’s my F&FF..
ReplyDeleteI agree, my reviews might get a few views, and maybe a comment or two but that's it. Almost makes me not even want to write a review!
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my FF :)
I totally get it! I have the same thing on my blog, with fewer views on reviews. I rarely, if ever get comments on them! If I'm contemplating buying a new book, you know the first thing I'm doing is scouring the blogosphere for reviews of the book! Especially blogs I follow and trust!

Very true! Lately, I've been trying to mix up my reviews between ARCs that are super hyped up and other lesser known books I'm trying to help authors promote. I always feel bad when the lesser known books get less views and comments than the popular books. Oh well, what can you do!

I agree with you, it is kind of a shame that book reviews don't get as much attention. That's what we are here for, isn't it? For me, I don't like to read the reviews for books I haven't read, because I'm scared for spoilers. Then I tend to read just the beginning or the ending of the review.

Yes to all of it! I wish I'd get more comments on my reviews. I also have to get commenting more on other blogger's reviews too. New follower.
