The Sunday Post #183

If this blog is boring, complain to your government representative.

The Sunday Post is hosted by The Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to recap the past week, talk about next week, and share news. It’s Monday, What Are You Reading? is hosted by Book Date. I get to tell you what I’ve read recently.

On The Blog Last Week

On The Blog This Week

  • On Tuesday I show you my most-anticipated 2019 adult book releases.
  • On Thursday I do the New Year’s Book Tag.
  • On Saturday there’s a book haul.

In My Reading Life

I spent the week reading middlegrade Cybils Award books. I finished Skylark and Wallcreeper by Anne O’Brien Carelli, Harbor Me by Jacqueline Woodson, and The Parker Inheritance by Varian Johnson. Right now, I’m reading a book for grown-ups: Bodily Harm by Margaret Atwood.

In My Internet Stalking Life

In The Rest Of My Life

Five things that made me happy last week:

1. Checking out a new library and getting a library card.

2. Thanks to the 24 in 48 Readathon, I finished my Cybils Award reading. I know which book I want to win. 🤞

3. I was trying to take photos of my pregnant sister, but my dog and her toy kept ruining (or enhancing?) my pictures. Most of them ended up looking like this:

4. The guy I voted for got shouty about the government shutdown and briefly made C-SPAN watchable.

5. This dog is excellent at eating cheese. Everybody has a talent, I guess.

Let’s Be Friends?

Take care of yourselves and be kind to each other! See you around the blogosphere!

  6. We got a new head of our library, which just so happens to be my daughters cheer coach and I need to go get a card to see if they updated their books. Last time I was there the books were so outdated.

Picture of your sister is cute. I love the dog eating cheese, that was really cute.

I hope you have a wonderful week, AJ! Happy Reading! xx

  14. CSPAN can be boring as snot. At least there was a bright spot on it the other day, LOL. The other day Glenn Beck suggested that CSPAN run government meetings from other countries like Britain... they can get pretty feisty. Maybe they can start a new CSPAN channel where they only air interesting fights and stuff from government meetings from around the world. That might be interesting to watch.

  20. Def. enhance, although as others said, your sister is all kinds of pretty. I love that cheese eating dog, and the "nailed it" type posts that followed of other dogs REALLY NOT GETTING IT were also hilarious.

I can't WAIT to find out what your top pick for Cybils is. I'm a bit behind because I am frantically trying to get a whole new semester with whole new classes of whole new students up and running. And as a middle school teacher, you'd think I'd read more MG, but the only one of those I've read so far is Harbor Me

  38. I have 3 library cards and would love to have more.

The whole govt thing - wow I can't even think about it without stressing out. I liked your Cspan clip - your guy is reasonable but some of them are SO stupid. All they seem to think about is grabbing as much lifetime salary and benefits while they are there and voting partisan so their lobbyist friends can make more money. Governing is the last thing on their agenda.

Well now you can move on to other great reading! Anne - Books of My Heart
