In My Reading Life
Last
week, I finished The Psychopath Test: A Journey through the Madness Industry
by Jon Ronson. Then I read Agents of
Dreamland by Caitlín R. Kiernan. Right now, I’m rereading A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab.
In The Rest Of My Life
Five
things that made me happy last week:
- I found out that I’m getting a phone for Christmas.
- Chocolate and pizza.
- I went running in the snow and decided that freezing in winter is way better than sweating in summer.
- Christmas music.
- The Great American Baking Show is back! It finally feels like Christmas.
Take care of yourselves and be kind to each
other! See you around the blogosphere.
Yay, A Darker Shade of Magic! I love that series but it's been a while since I read it... maybe time to pick it back up again and refresh, especially since winter break is just around the corner? And running in the winter is always a struggle for me, haha, it's always hard to start in the freezing cold. One thing I often think about, though: if you're cold the running will make you warm, but if it's hot, it's not getting any cooler.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!

Chocolate and pizza, that's life, isn't it? Love both, have not been eating pizza for a month now. What! I know! I truly miss it.
ReplyDeleteRunning in the snow? I still need to get used to running in winter. Where I lived it was always summer and I loved running! But back in the Netherlands, I haven't run since October. The reason? It's too cold! I really need to get used to the cold again and then I'm going to run again. I miss it.
Have a great week!
Sorry, wanted to ask for any tips/advice?
ReplyDeleteI’m not sure if I have tips for running in the snow because I’m very much an amateur runner. I just forced myself to do it and tried not to fall on the ice. I’m glad I didn’t dress too warm because I got really hot, even in the snow.

Ooooh, Agents of Dreamland looks really interesting and I'm curious to see what you think of A Darker Shade of Magic. I've been interested in reading that one for awhile now! And hurray for a new phone! Have a great week :D
ReplyDeleteHere's my Weekly Recap!
I need to read A Darker Shade of Magic soon. Not only because I bought the special edition (now I have two editions of the same book), but also because I'm writing my dissertation on V.E. Schwab.
ReplyDeleteHappy readings & Wishes of a great week.
Tânia @MyLovelySecret
I do like chocolate and pizza. A bit too much perhaps.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it more fun knowing what you're going to get for Christmas? The Man brought in a huge box yesterday. Sitting on the floor it almost reaches my hip. I'm dying to know what's inside!! I hope you enjoy that phone when you get it. I grew up in the heat of Texas, so I've always been good with it, but in the last two years it has gotten to me. I've never been one for the cold, and we don't hardly ever get snow. But we did a few days ago!
ReplyDeleteNow I have to go watch The American Baking Show---so much fun!!

Your list of what made you happy this weeks makes ME happy! Enjoy your week.
ReplyDeleteMmm...I want some chocolate and pizza too!
ReplyDeleteHere’s my Sunday Post !

Chocolate and pizza sound so good right about now. I'm terrified to run in the snow out of a fear ice :) Have a great week, AJ!
ReplyDeleteI always think freezing is better than sweating through summer! But, I also do NOT run. Seriously, I would hurt myself and others that way! Hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI love your list of things you are grateful for. I hope to do that every day in 2018. Enjoy the cooler weather.
ReplyDeleteI much prefer sweating in summer to freezing in winter! I don't run but with biking I can take the humidity and the heat but when it's cold outside it's hard to convince myself to leave my nice warm apartment.
ReplyDeleteOoh Agents of dreamland looks good! And chocolate and pizza. I had both today! We had company yesterday so chocolates were still out = me eating them lol. So it's been a good day. :)
ReplyDeleteChristmas music makes everything better too.
I recently just got a new phone too (it's my first smart phone ever). Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteYum, chocolate and pizza! But hopefully not together??? Lol. I have to disagree with #3 though. I hate the cold! I just want the hot weather back already D-: Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteYes, Christmas music ;-) Happy reading.
ReplyDeleteChristmas music has the opposite effect on me-it drives me mad! Yes to chocolate and pizza-I had both this week but seperate of course...
ReplyDeleteI don't know if I'd want to know what I was getting for Christmas - though assuming this is something you wanted. I have been running recently but wasn't sure I wanted to do it in the snow - isn't it slippy?
ReplyDeleteHooray for the new phone! (Although I think I'd rather be surprised. LOL) And I am so with you on the weather. I'd much rather be cold than hot!
ReplyDeleteI read a Darker Shade of Magic and really enjoyed it - I hope you are too. Go you for getting a new phone for Christmas - MUCH better to know what you're getting than an unwanted surprise, say I! Have a great week and good luck with the freezing runs - brrrr...
ReplyDeleteI totally with you on winter vs. summer. Yay on the new phone.
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome that you are getting a new phone. Chocolate and pizza makes me happy too. I choose winter over summer too. I wish it would snow, we had a little bit yesterday morning but by the afternoon it was all gone. Hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteA Darker Shade of Magic is still on my TBR mountain. I hope to get to it in 2018. One advantage might be that the sequels will be readily available. Come see my week here. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteChocolate and pizza always make me happy too. On Saturday, I treated myself to garlic knots and pizza, and let me tell you best choice ever. I keep hearing about The Great American Baking Show - I'll have to try it one of these days! Have a great week! :)
ReplyDeleteI also prefer the cold of winter to the heat of summer. Come see what I'm reading.
ReplyDeleteI will be curious to see what you think of Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab. I love pizza. Number one comfort food to be sure! Hope your week is a good one :)
ReplyDeleteWhen I was in high school, I ran track and cross country, and I remember liking running outside in the winter. Oooh, a new phone. What kind? I hope you love it!
ReplyDeleteMy husband is a newbie runner and he's been running in the snow/cold! I am not a runner, and I was amazed, especially when he said it wasn't too bad!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to have to check out your book hauls! I can't get enough of other people's book hauls lately. Lol.
And I haven't watched the American Baking show - just Britain's. I guess I need to start watching our own!
Have a great week!
Running in snow? That would be awesome! Here in LA it is still super hot... gaaahhhh
ReplyDeleteOooh. You have a new toy (phone!) - The Psychopath Test looks really interesting for me.
ReplyDeleteChocolate and pizza? Yum! That would make me happy :) Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteChocolate!! Sigh.. I’ve always loved chocolate but lately I’ve been wanting nothing but chocolate. Crazy really!! And Christmas music while eating some chocolate is the best right?! :D
ReplyDeleteHappy Reading!
The Psychopath Test looks so interesting! I've heard great things about V.E. Schwab's books though I have yet to try any. Soon hopefully! I'm not sure I can agree with you about running in snow being better than sweating but than I'm notorious for being a total wimp when it comes to cold! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your re-read of ADSOM. Thats one of my favorite series. Ooh, congrats on getting a new phone for Christmas. That would make me happy too :)
ReplyDeleteMy husband runs in the snow and I think y'all are nuts! There's no good time to run (bleeeecccchhh...). I actually did a 5k once and I'm good. I admire runners! I LOVED ADSOM and I should probably re-read it before I start the second one. Such an awesome series!!!! LOVE IT.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, I wish we were all nicer to each other... hugs!!!
I think running would kill me. Seriously kill me. I can't say that I really enjoy walking the dogs more in the cold than the heat. Both are pretty miserable. Yay for the new phone!
