Is it too late for New Year’s stuff? I hope not because I was tagged for this a few times and failed to complete it. The New Year’s Book Tag was created by Bookables on YouTube. Let’s do it.
The New Year’s Book Tag
1. How many books are you planning to read
in 2019?
Most
likely between 50 and 115. I’m not giving myself a specific number because who
needs more stress in their life? Not me. I’ve read 10 books so far in 2019. I’ll
be happy with whatever number I reach in December.
2. Five books you will make a priority in
2019?
You can find my winter to-be-read list here. My five priorities are The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz
Zafón, The Arsonist by Stephanie
Oakes, Dear Martin by Nic Stone, Arcadia by Iain Pears, and Allegedly by Tiffany D. Jackson.
They’re
priorities because I own them, and people have been telling me how good they are. I swear I will read them!
3. What genre do you want to read more of
in 2019?
Can I say
Newbery winners? I know that’s not a genre, but for pretentious personal
reasons, I want to say, “Why, yes, of
course I’ve read all 96 Newbery winners. Who hasn’t done that?”
4. Three non-book-related goals for 2019?
Exercise
at least 5 days a week, start relearning Spanish, get better at social media. I
actually have a bunch of 2019 goals. I wrote about them here.
5. A book you’ve had forever that you still
need to read?
Bodily Harm by
Margaret Atwood. My spreadsheet says I bought this book slightly over a year ago. I
haven’t read it. I have no excuses.
6. One word to describe your 2019?
One
word? For the entire year? How about Explore.
I spent 2018 depressed and bored. I should probably try some new things and see
some new places.
Do you
want to do this tag? Consider yourself tagged.
I have about 500 books that need to be priority this year! I want to read ALL THE BOOKS this year! Yeah like that will happen. But progress towards the 200 book goal and getting the tbr below 1000 books is going well so far!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your goals! I wish I could read 200 books a year. I’m a really slow reader.

Allegedly has been on my radar for a long time. I’ll be interested to see your thoughts on it. I like your Exoplore theme. I always have plans to play tourist in my own city on the weekends but it never seems to work out.
ReplyDeleteThere are so many things in my town that I haven’t done. When I went to visit the new library, I discovered that we also have a new outdoor skating rink. I had no idea!

Oh I like this tag! I might have to squeeze it in. Explore is a great word for 2019!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I like this tag, too. Unlike most of them, it’s short.

Okay, I just have to say that I love how you don't set a definite reading goal! It always stresses me out when I set a specific number and I actually have never met someone who feels the same!!!
ReplyDeleteAnyways. You're Newberry comment was just hilarious, mostly because I actually am that pretentious. XD I now have a new goal! I also adore you're word for 2019! 2018 for me was a very stressful year and I spent most of it in a depression of sorts and had a pretty slow reading year ... Explore definitely fits what I'm wanting to get out of '19! (Sorry, that was longer than I had expected, lol)

I used to set reading goals, but then last year went horribly wrong, and I didn’t need book stress on top of everything else. Good luck with exploring!

The longest you have owned an unread book is A LITTLE OVER A YEAR?????? You are reading Wonder Woman! I think mine is from five years ago. 😏
ReplyDeleteMy word for this year is "simplify". 👍✨
Haha, I’m not Wonder Woman; I’m just broke. I can’t afford to buy a ton of books, so I don’t own as many as other people seem to.

I LOVE YOUR WORD!!!! That's an awesome goal. I wish you lived near me and could make me exercise 5 days a week, because I need to exercise(5 days a week, if not more). Allegedly was such a mindf**k. Well done Tiffany D. Jackson, well done.
ReplyDeleteExercising 5 days a week has been a struggle. I hate exercise and really don’t want to do it! I’m glad Allegedly is good. I’m looking forward to it.
DeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
I agree that Allegedly needs to be a 2019 priority!
ReplyDeleteHopefully I’ll read it this month.

Explore is a great word for the year! I hope you go on some awesome adventures!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I went on a few small adventures last month. I need to get out of the house more often.

Hi AJ - good luck ... certainly reading lots of books this year will help - as I keep buying them. Explore - I probably did that last year ... I need to recalibrate life to improve things for the time being now I'm back in England. I'll note your book choices - cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteI really need to read The Arsonist too! I loved Minnow Bly and have had The Arsonist basically forever and still haven't read it!
ReplyDeleteI was so excited when The Arsonist came out that I bought it ASAP. Now it’s been sitting on a shelf for a year.
DeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
I like this tag! I wish I had seen it earlier!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I need to get to The Arsonist too smh I bought it when it came out andddddd haven't looked at it since lol
This is a pretty good tag for the new year! I've been meaning to read Allegedly, too, it sounds really good and I've gotten maybe 20 pages in, but then other books distracted me! And explore is a pretty good word for the year! Thanks for stopping by! Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteAllegedly was on sale last month, so I picked it up on Amazon. To join the pile of other books I bought on sale on Amazon, LOL. So many books I want to read.
ReplyDeleteI like your quest to read Newberry winners, just for the pretentiousness of it all, LOL. No problem with goals like that. I hope you enjoy exploring this year.
This is great for a new year start. I want to exercise more too. I have a few things that I have set into motion for this year. Getting and feeling better is totally one of them. =)
