I also tend to stick to the roads in my walks. On Friday with my dog, a deer cut in front of us, saw the dog (who was on a leash) and took off across a field and down a ravine. Then there was a bang. I never saw if someone shot it (it was right near dusk and shooting after sunset is a no-no).
