Top Ten Tuesday: Popular Books That Don’t Suck

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s topic is popular books that live up to the hype. Honestly, I’m usually disappointed with popular* books. That’s why I don’t read many of them. But, the books on this list deserve their popularity. All of them are excellent.

*I’m defining “popular” as more than 500,000 ratings on Goodreads.

This Or That Tag (The Stressful Edition)

This edition of the This Or That Tag was created by Cait @ Paper Fury. It’s stressful because most of the choices are terrible. I hope you enjoy watching me make difficult bookish decisions. Some of these are painful.

I’d Love To Read About: Watery Places And The Afterlife

Have you ever learned a strange fact or seen an unusual place and thought, I wish there were more books about that? It happens to me all the time. Authors, if you’re listening, here are four unusual things that I wish somebody would write about. (Or take inspiration from. I’m not picky!)

Top Ten Tuesday: My Favorite Short Stories Of All Time

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s topic is my favorite short stories ever. Read that sentence again. My favorite short stories ever. How am I supposed to choose! I’ve read approximately three gazillion short stories. When I saw this topic, I immediately thought of a hundred favorites, and my brain overheated, and I melted into an angsty puddle on the floor. This list was agonizing, but I managed to narrow it down to ten.

Discussion: Best Books Of 2018 (So Far)

The 2018 Discussion Challenge is hosted by Feed Your Fiction Addiction & It Starts At Midnight

The year is half over, and that means it’s time to pick the best books I’ve read in the first 6 months of 2018. If you’ve seen my Mid-Year Freak-Out Tag, then you already know my favorites, but I guess we should make it official. Every book on this list got 5 stars from me on Goodreads. Click the titles to see my reviews (if I have them).

Top Ten Tuesday: Recent Wish List Additions

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s topic is whatever I want! I’ve blogged before about how I manage my reading life. I used to have a problem with impulse-buying books. I solved that problem by using a wish list. Whenever I come across an interesting book, I write it on the list and leave it there for weeks (or months, or years). Every few months, I go through the list and delete the books that no longer appeal to me. Here are ten books that I recently added to my wish list. I may or may not ever read them.

Top Ten Tuesday: USA! (In Book Photos)

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s topic is red, white, and blue book covers. For me, this was a perfect opportunity to practice my bookish photography. If you look very closely at the pictures, you’ll notice that I included a book set in Russia in some of my “America colors” photos. I apologize for my warped sense of humor. I couldn’t resist.
